Hi all,

We have about 5000 leaflets which we'd like to distribute.

We originally had 10'000 but 5000 have already gone on the counters of local newsagents, pubs, dry cleaners etc. I know that the ROI is hard to measure with such a campaign but the return seems pretty low. We paid a local newspaper distributor £20 to insert 1000 of our leaflets into the local rag but to our knowledge, no-one has responded. Which leads me to my question:

If we were to have our flyers handed out at National Rail stations (London Charing Cross and Cannon Street), how much would it cost to hire people to do the handing out? Would they be paid per hour or per 1000 flyers?

We've checked with the train stations and local councils and are permitted to do this. We could do it ourselves but would prefer to out-source. We'll monitor the distributors to ensure that they don't just put the flyers in bins but really need to know where to go to hire such people.

Thanks in advance.

1% response is the absolute best you will get! Have you used this style of mailer before? is it the mailer or is it the manner it is being distributed? is it because your product is not being purchased at the moment? I have designed many many mailers over the years, some have worked and some have not! My most successful was where I received 12 complaints, but I got as many sales! What I am trying to say is that it could be mailers content and not the way it is being distributed or the other way round. A mail shot needs to be specific, with not a lot of content. Who are your audience? Could you be more specific

Giving out leaflets you might as well give out Macdonald's used burger boxes I got 5000 leaflets from a local printer how much do I make back 0% so if I was you before you pay someone to do this think about how much you will make back you might as well post them through letter boxes yourself.

The % you get back varies - for example, I am a designer I sent out (via targetted mail) about 250 flyers - I got 6 jobs from them. Might not sound a lot, but the flyers cos me 69 quid for 5000, the work I got was worth upwards of £3k. I wouldn't have gotten the graft without the flyers. So yes it depends how much the service you offer is worth, to whether a 1% response rate would be worth it!
