Yes mailing list for £500+ I get around 5,000 to 8,000 e-mails I send some information to the company and then they'll send it out to the targeted e-mail addresses and hopefully get some people to sign up from it I help.

How targeted are they? Be careful it does not come across as SPAM, that could do much more harm to your business than good!

Email marketing is a great way of keeping in touch with those who have enquired with you or bought from you in the past. It is always best to use an opt in list (where the recipient actually agreed to having emails received). If you do buy a list make sure it is highly targeted and send an email that has been professionally designed and relevant to those you are sending to.

Agreed. I have used website opt ins and had brilliant conversions. I used Aweber (http://www.aweber.com/?327203) myself and cannot recommend it highly enough.

So to confirm you write the emails and then they choose the data and broadcast the emails?
For decent data you should pay 20p to 35p per record so this seems quite cheap (which isn't generally a good thing) and doesn't take into account sending the email.
Where is the email sent from? Does it come from your name and a domain name that looks like yours?
Also email marketing is a skill - correct me if I'm wrong but it sounds like you haven't done this before and there are many factors that will help with people opening emails, doing what you want them to do and getting them through spam filtered. It may be worth getting a professional to write the emails.
Yes email marketing when done right works.

Hi, I work for infoUK, one of the leading data suppliers in the UK and we offer an email marketing service from start to finish. We will work with you to create a targeted list of opt-in email addresses, our expert team will create an html email for you, helping you decide the copy and subject line so as to avoid the usual spam traps. Just my opinion but I think doing other forms of marketing may be more beneficial to your business.
Emails B2B can work (and do work). Yes, some people will be annoyed and think it's spam but the majority won't. B2C though you are emailing someone's personal address and that will annoy more people which could damage your reputation. Yes you would get the odd response but I don't think it would be great.
Personally I think Google AdWords, Facebook and banner advertising are better ways to promote this business. (This probably isn't what you want to hear though!)

I understand what you are saying and I thank you for that and I am having second thoughts about this but can anybody else give me advice please.
I have just got some numbers from http://www.whichlist.com/ as anybody ever done any business with them does anybody know any history about them.
These are the numbers I got:-
Email Broadcasting is priced as follows: (prices per thousand)
1-5k = £50,
6-10k = £45,
11-20k = £35,
21k+ = negotiable.
Email design is priced between £150 and £350. This all depends on how complex the design actually is.
what do you think about this can they be trusted?.

hi rob
before you commence with your email marketing, how good is your salescopy? Have you measured and tested it?

Hiya,
I work in the email marketing arena too.
Questions you need to ask on data:
What is the recency? How up to date is the data?
Source: How is the data originally compiled?
How often is the database used?
Typical bounce rates?
Typical open rates?
Also your creative will be key how relevant is your offer to the list? who are you targeting? Is the creative clear with a clear call to action? Is the offer string enough to warrant a response from people who don't know you? when are you sending the broadcast?
Hope the above helps.
