I've just had this email from my web promoter do I need to be worried ?
'Google has really started dropping sites like lead weights – regular content (at least 10 pages a month) need to be added..'

I'd rather not for exactly that reason

So some half wit is trying to convince site owners that unless they put up at least 10 new pages a month they may be dropped from google.?
It may be wise to find a new web promoter.:|

Let me guess: He has graciously offered to write these 10 pages a month for you - for a modest sum. And he has a line on the Brooklyn Bridge too, which, believe it or not, is about to be demolished.

Hummm ? I'm confused in that case. He is not suggesting that we (or he) get someone to do it. In fact he is suggesting that I do it !!! Before I ask questions I thought I'd give you lot a try. I'm glad I did now

Bear in mind that people pick things up from forums and the like assuming they are facts.

It's not just a rumour then?

Metal fatigue, apparently. But they're keeping it quite for now - national monument and all. People have a tendency to get very emotional about that sort of thing.

Most websites are static. They don't add new pages or new content. Updates rarely go beyond changes to contact information and personnel, and the occasional special offer. For many offline businesses, there's only so much information you can put on your website before it's perceived as keyword spam.
If Google really dropped sites that didn't add new pages, you'd never find a doctor's surgery, a removal company, a plumber, or an accountant online. Your guy is talking rubbish.

Its always good in general to increase the size of your site with new content pages that can capture traffic for new keyword or product terms.
But it will not, again in general maintain your rankings or ensure you are not demoted.

I think he's pulling your leg (or some other part of your anatomy). If Google started dropping all sites that added less than 10 pages per month, the internet network would be a pretty lonley place.
And what does he mean by dropping? Pagerank dropping, search position dropping? Or just dropped off the face of the earth never to be seen again. I really wouldn't worry about this, yes good content is a good thing and buckets of good content even better but I would imagine most small business sites don't even run to 10 pages in total, let alone per month.
I'll just check mine to make sure www.which-network.co.uk (http://www.which-network.co.uk) phew....it's still there :D

For now , until you say ' i cant please help me ' if this was the case u wouldnt need to ask the question on here, every SEO expert would know and i think it would make the national news as a move like that could ruin the internet world, .. personally i say worry not. !

In order to be successful in SERPs (http://www.bing.com/?searchonly=true) in certain niche's, you have to employ a big team of people regularly spamming the hell out of blogs. Quality and alledged popularity now counts for nothing when G**gle's running the show.
