Hello all.

I have some products that I need to divert to home use, I do have an agent who'll do this but I don't have enough products to make that worthwhile. I have asked my agent for advice but they're being very cagey about how I need to do it - does anyone know how I can divert pipe to home use or know what I should do now?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Do you mean to avoid paying VAT and duty on imports?

yes - pipe that is for an end-user is VAT free however, pipe that is to be used on the mainland has to be diverted to home use and so therefore the VAT needs to be paid. Do you know I can do this?

It depends on how the goods have been originally declared into the country.

Diverting to home use is usually a secondary declaration after an initial clearance under IPR or such like.

To advise fully I would need a better idea of how the goods have been cleared into the UK originally.
