Hi All

My name is Michael, I work for an established web design studio in Lancaster, UK. We have just developed a link directory (http://www.nublue.co.uk/directory) to link to other design studios and related internet services. If you work within this field and would like a link from us, please sign up on the page (http://www.nublue.co.uk/directory).

The page was only launched today 28/10/2005 so the PR rating is still quite low, but we hope it to become a PR 5 or 6 within the next 4 weeks.

A reciprical link is required before you submit (this will be checked). Please use the following information to link to us. Your link will remain on the page for as long as our link remains on yours.

Title: NuBLue - Professional website design
Description: Custom made, CSS / XHTML websites that look good and list well.
URL: http://www.nublue.co.uk

Thanks,
Michael

Kind regards

Michael

It'll be 3 months or more, google just underwent their last major update (is it still going?) which included a PR update. If you didnt go up this time your gunna be waiting a while.

Good Luck with the directory though.

Its a nice site, I like the design its clear and it looks professional, the but is that it dosn't work properly in Opera, its probably just a couple of XHTML tags that need tweaking or a bit of CSS you need to play with.

thanks for pointing out the opera compatability issue Joydivision, just updated the site with some new graphics, still got some teething problems. Glad you like it though.

Michael,

How does putting a link in your directory benefit me? And why would you put a directory of competitors on your website? Surely you should be building a directory that will complement your services - links to resources useful to your clients.

The way I see it, you are just looking for a way to boost page rank and besides - I did not see a direct link and or mention of the directory on your home page.

I suggest you rethink and use your directory to list services complementing your services.

Good luck - and please don't take this personal.

Michael,

1) putting a link in our directory will benefit you because the more links there are to your site from relevant sites (i.e sites that provide a similar service) increases your sites relevance in all the major search engines.

2) These are not competitors, we have a constant flow of work and are growing every day. We link to them and they link to us therefore supporting each other. We have already started to see increased traffic through the search engines as a result of the directory, which makes it all worth while.

3) There is a direct link to the directory on every single page of our site in the footer and yes we dont mention it because its not one of our services and page space is valuable.

Cheers for the post all the same

Good luck
Michael

p.s. think you could do with a few more graphics on your site. Looks very wordy. Please don't take this personal

Welcome to the forum BTW, what have you based the next 4 weeks quote on?

Also, we used Silktide as a pointer to areas we needed to address, a key one in your case I would say is the number of back links.

Hi webit,

Just a rough estimate, we do website marketing and as a general rule it takes us 2-4 weeks to make a site PR5. our site is currently on PR4 at the moment but it has only been up for a couple of weeks.

More of an educated guess then a fact : )

Interesting. Especially since it took 3 to 4 months for our site to get a PR since it launched at just the wrong time for the google dance.

I get http://www.nublue.co.uk and http://www.nublue.co.uk/index.php as PR 3 not as 4

As Google only updates the PR toolbar every 3 months, how would you take a site to PR 5 in 2-4 weeks?

Do you work for Google and adjust the toolbar rating for sites that you work on?

Obviously, the comments above show that plenty of members know better, but it would be a shame if other members who are trying to learn, get misinformed by your "educated guesses".

With all due respect but PR5 in 2-4 weeks poppycock!

I am sorry but that is just so bad to state that. Thats like me telling an SEO client I guarentee you top of the first page listings in all the Search Engines in a week.

Cant we just be honest people!

That is a bad marketing ploy.

Apart from that good luck with your website nublue.
