Hi
A man called today with a very thick accent (I couldn't understand a lot of what he was saying.) The jist of it was he wanted to visit the unit to buy some things for a friend in Ghana.:|
I told him that the unit was not open to the public and he would have to order and have the items delivered to a UK address.
He said he would phone back later in the week with a list....
Does this sound just way tooooo fraudulant to you?
How should I deal with this if he phones back?
Thanks!

I agree. There are a lot of charlatans about but there are also one or two kosher ones. We have one client we deal with in Ghana (he pays cash). See what he wants to order and then get him to pay you cash up front before you deliver to a UK address.

It sounds well dodgy, advise him that you do not deliver to Africa (assuming that's your policy) and if he wishes to order he must do so through your website and provide a UK address. I would go so far as to say the card he uses must be registered at the same UK address.

99.99999% of order attempts from or involving Africa are fraudulent, its not worth letting your guard down for that 0.000001% genuine punter.

I totally agree.
Cash only.

Isn't it a shame that it such a problem dealing with other countries?
The few really mess it up for the majority.

Thanks for the responses - I agree that a few fraudsters have tarnished everybody internationally I am afraid. I was hit bad with fraud when I first started out and now its a case of once bitten, twice shy!
