You're looking for employees on a business forum? I'd personally rather the site stayed more focused on members who are in business.

Are you expanding?
Heads up you might want to fix the non www. issue with the site ;)

JDX,

If looking for an employee on a business forum is wrong, what would you call looking for work for free on a business forum.

Businesses often offer services for free to get customers or gain reputation.

You'd maybe have thought of that if you weren't so busy trying to be clever.

Couple of ideas for you....put a salary on the ad as this will improve responses. Secondly you need to be a bit careful about stating a specific number of years experience as this can apparently be construed as age discrimination. (Don’t want to get into why, just passing on what recruitment companies have been advised to do!)

JDX,

Serious businesses do not ask people to do things for free.

Its money that makes business work and the world go round.

This has nothing to do with the poster's topic. I've made my point on that subject and have nothing further to add, I'm not going to keep dragging his post off-topic.

You've done a pretty good job so far.

Yeah that's right. I invited people to come and discuss my other post in this thread.

Rather an interesting bunch of replies....

Firstly, yes we are expanding, if you wish to discuss then feel free to call. Secondly, Aiden, thank you for your offer in help recruiting, I did receive your email, but as I said in my post - NO AGENCIES - we have sufficient agency help and are happy with their terms. We do not have the often time consuming time to spend developing a working relationship with any more.
Thirdly, JDX...this is a business site where we as a business are offering people jobs. It is hard enough in this economic climate for people to find work so we look for people where we can.
WILL 101 - we have people of all ages from graduates upwards, but we know our business well and we know how much time we have to spend on training, so at this point as we are very busy, we need people with experience to hit the ground running!
Also our salaries are always discussed during our interviews.

Have a good day.

Steph

Hurray back on topic, sorry :(

My point was I wouldn't expect many job-seekers on a business forum... and if word gets out jobs are offered then we may be inundated, there are a thousand and one places to offer jobs but only 1 UKBF. But it's only my opinion, if mods are happy I'll drop it there.

As a business question, why do you not like to mention salary ranges up front?

I think JDX is correct in that most job-seekers won't be looking on here.

You'd be better off -and get better-quality responses- placing an ad locally (as you insist on employee being office-based) and/or on Jobserve ( http://www.jobserve.com ). I don't know the rates for an ad on Jobserve, but it's one of the better job sites, and usually the only one I use when it comes to contracting or perm roles.

we do place adverts, don't prejudge.
JDX, try thinking outside of the box...you never know... I've already received 3 CV's this morning and one looks very promising..cost to me, nothing..excellent use of intelligence, don't you think..

Nice to see people not reading things properly too or acknowledging help given.
I asked if you were expanding as I would have thought with a big team that all things would be pretty much sewn up and given that you already have a senior developer and other developers who should know the business site is not resolving for its non www.

Looks like my post fell on deaf ears, by not acknowledging the issue on your site you make people posting back to your posts with helpful info a waste of our time.

Sheesh, don't be so sensitive. I wasn't pre-judging at all.

My post was a suggestion that was meant in a creative manner, particularly with regard to advertising nationally for a very localised vacancy.

Glad you're getting CVs though.

NetBiz

Not all sensitive or else I would not come onto this forum. Yes now up to 4 CV's. I believe that people looking for work will use any methods they know of to find work, so thats why we post in various locations. Also alot of people realise that sometimes relocation for a good job is something they have to consider.

Kev, kev, I did respond with yes we are expanding. We need another senior developer to free up some time for our main senior guy who is helping in other areas. We encourage career progression and that is why we have excellent staff retention, no one one wants to leave.
The issue with our site is not a priority as we have our new site in development as we bring out a new refreshed one every 12 months or less to demonstrate how great we are at our jobs.

Right back to work, ..coffee anyone?

Cool :) I realised it was probably expansion but the site issue wasn't acknowledged which I thought was important to mention so it could be fixed :)

I'll have a Cappuccino ta ;) heheh

Why does this thread remind me of a Harry Enfield sketch :)

"You don't wanna do that! You wanna do this".
