HI

I am working on a wordpress site, and it's a website rather than blog, therefore using static pages as the home page. etc.

I want to use the blog functionality for a "reviews" section, where customers can review the product service etc.

Can I do this without any clash.
Can I get the posts page just as a seperate page within the website.?

Many thanks
Sandra

In wordpress when you select the option to set a static page as your home page you also have the option to set any different page the the 'blog' page where posts can be made.

If you do that there will be no clash etc, it is designed to do it.

So, the posts normal post on index.php
can you rename this page?

Or should the home page be names something else, and the posts etc all left on index?

If you turn on Friendly URLS you can name the page anything you want and have a web address as http://www.webaddress/subpage/

For the review functionality that you want check out the Plug-in Directory, they usually have some very good stuff available. It's even better because they are free!

Do the posts have to go on the page index.php?

Nope, you can create another page 'reviews' for example. Then from the settings choose that page to display the posts

How to make a static page your home page and hide a double home page link (http://mcbuzz.wordpress.com/2009/02/25/wordpress-tutorial-how-to-make-a-static-page-your-home-page-hide-a-double-home-page-link/) tells how, in an excruciatingly dull way. But it works. (It's all in the last minute of the 10 minute video.)

You might want to look at the Sideposts (http://alkivia.org/wordpress/sideposts/) plugin, so posts are flagged up in the sidebar.
