View Full Version : Its Such A Buzz!

Hi All

Having only started up a very short time ago, I had absolutely no idea how much of a Buzz! it can be.

Over the last few weeks things have really began to take off. :D

I have managed to entice my first salons into taking my product.
I also have something in the pipeline with a Tanning Salon Company that have quite a few prime city centre locations. (fingers crossed for me)

The googley ranking for the Brand Name is doing well...so far...

Although the brand name site is just "mirroring" the other site.
Not sure what the heck that means, but to borrow a phrase from Jayne :)
" I`m not a techi " just incase I had fooled you with the above statement!

And to top it all, I have had a regular client for the past couple of months and a few days ago they sent an order for a significantly larger amount. My first "big" order.
This led to some negotiation having to take place as they were looking for a better deal.

Having taken notice of great advice I saw here a while back on the forum, I held firm on my price.
This afternoon the deal was done :D
Got to admit tho it has cost me my nails.

Sorry I dont remember who posted the thread that helped me out on sticking to my price, but a big THANKS to everyone on UK Business for taking the time that you all do to help.
The advice I`ve found on here has been invaluable.

Great stuff! Pleased to hear it's all working out for you!

I am not a techi either but a friend I spoke to recently mentioned that if you register a domain such as www.jobsdirectfromemployers.com it would be beneficial to have it as www.jobs-direct-from-employers.com this way it gets up well on googly thingy... Anyway I just thought you might be interested for www.facial-hair-remover.com ?

You might want to check this with a techy though...

All the best

Hi Russ

Is this true?

Do Search engines still place websites based-on-their-name?

The domain name definately factors in your ranking, along with dozens of other things (meta data, keyword density, inbound links, alt tags etc). It's an extremely subjective thing but generally google are less concerned with the page content itself, rather the amount of other sites linking to it (and the respective popularity of those sites). Yahoo, on the other hand, base their results more on page content rather than link popularity.

I'm 95% certain it is the case. You can check it out by performing some searches on Goggle using your own website as an example, try typing rosesbydesign (8 results - most of them you) then roses by design (924,000 results - none of them you).

Register www.roses-by-design.co.uk and see where you come in each search I bet you a fiver you come up top in both..

I think the key to it is is that when people type in a search for something, say for example "homes in spain" they would not type in homesinspain so a website registered www.homes-in-spain.com will feature higher in searches than www.homesinspain.com

Do remember I am not a techy...

But if you do register extra domain names, you should avoid duplicating the content, otherwise you will probably be penalised for it.

The recommendation is to pick the domain you prefer, allow that to be spidered, but to prevent spidering for the associated domains.
