Found this site by accident after finding a link to it from bowbiz (which I also found by accident!)

As a new business just starting out we hope to get advice from the experts out there. Were also keen to get feedback and general support from all who have had to start from where we are today!

How often do you rummage around on a Saturday night looking for that elusive takeaway menu or want to find the 'latest' menu or what special events are on at your favourite restaurant?

We give eateries the ability to display all this information to their customers, which is updateable 24/7 via a web control panel (including the colour scheme and style!) and also provide their customers with an interactive menu and a printable menu. They can also display comprehensive establishment info with photos/logos, create RSS feeds for their events/special offers and also integrate a third party table booking system if required.

Future plans include upgrading the interactive menu into a full blown e-mail ordering system.

So that's it really.......thanks for taking the time to read this and look forward to hearing from you all.

Regards,

Gareth

Hi Gareth - nice site. A friend of mine set up a few years ago with the same principals as yourself called Hunger Munger....it was ok for a little while but exposure became a problem. I guess a great area to market is web savvy students who are always looking for late take-away delivered food.

Good luck with it all!

Hi

Welcome to the forum. A cracking idea you have come up with there. I'd use it :D - just had a little play with the site and created a menu, I love the way it works. Maybe you could target large centres of population. Have a London site for instance, a Birmingham one, Edinburgh, etc etc... I suppose getting the URL noticed in the first place would be hard to do, but you do have a good name for the site, which is easy to remember.

All the best with it

Thanks for the feedback Phil - its great to hear some encouraging comments like yours!

As you correctly indicated my problem is coverage - as with any new site/idea. I am though hoping to hit an area at a time - similar to what you mentioned but I think it may be a word of mouth/paper advertising effort to get lift off initially in an area - (I'll have to butter up the local freebies for some press releases!)

I am also hoping to use 'agents/resellers' in other areas to ease the burden on myself/maximise coverage.

Thanks again,

Gareth

What you need to do is target the student cities, take Manchester for example it has more students within a 3 mile radius area than any where else in Europe, about 80,000 of them in fact.

With three of the countries largest universities (Manchester, MMU and Salford) all next door to each other it makes marketing quite easy.

You should also go round the campuses in London since thats where you live and then slowly expand to other parts of the country. Either do the marketing yourself or get other students to do it.

Or perhaps even advertise in the university, some universities allow you advertise on their computers for example which would be the perfect ideal target for a website like that.

Of course none students use take aways as well, but the student population is by far the biggest market here.

Welcome to the forum!

Great idea - I would definitely use it and it would stop all the arguments in my house about who had the menu last and didn't put it away!

When I worked in London (City) and late most nights, there was a service (but not online), where you could use the booklet to choose what you wanted from whichever restaurant, order and pay by phone and then they would get your order from that particular restaurant and deliver it.

We used to use it for ourselves when we were working late on a project, but also with some of the better restaurants if we were having an in-house working lunch or dinner meeting.

Maybe you could target that sort of market?

Busy week so far - all haloweened out....and thanks for the interesting suggestions/ideas you two.
The student population seems a good target - suppose I could get some gizzits/stickers etc to give away at the fresher fairs?

- My main problem at the minute though is getting restaurants to try it out/use it for themselves i.e. put the info in themselves - as although I can enter it for them (at a price) it eats into my time. Anyway must go...

Gareth

It sounds like a great idea - a shame you have nothing in my area
