Hi All
I have just launched a new website and would appreciate any comments (i think?) www.mvauk.com
New site www.mvauk.com
Q1. Does the site give of a good initial impression?
Q2. Does the site immediatly identify what we do?
Q3. Is the site easy to navigate?
Q4. Is it easy enough to work out how to contact us?
Q5. Would it encourage you to contact us?
Q6. Does the site protray us as a proffesional firm?
Q7. Is the vacancy section clear enough and easy to understand?
Q8. As a client would you expect to see anything else?
Thank you for taking the time to answer...
Cheers

You need to sort out the source, the HTML that's driving it is awful.

Hi Richard
Sorry buddy, I didn't say which website... Doh! Please comment on www.mvauk.com
I would be interested to hear if you could explain more about your comment though and presume it referred to www.appointdirect.com :?:
Cheers

mvauk is getting there, the HTML needs a lot of tidying like Richard said but the appointdirect site looks like it was made in 1999. The images for the links need replacing with a nice bit of CSS controled text.
I much prefer the mvauk however the deisgn is there (I think, I only looked it for 10 seconds) but then sorting out the HTML can take ages. Its a job which should be done as well.

Hi Russ,
Love the web site, very clean and bright, like a new penny :D Don't know the techy, but looks really great.

Thanks Jayne
I'm not a techy either so I am naturally more interested in how it looks.. 8)
I find it hard to understand that something can look OK but is actually really bad???
We employ web designers and developers so find it useful to know if the bit you cant see works OK??? :? Although I have to say I am more interested to know if we have the front end design right...
Thanks for your comments

Text which gets its look from a style sheet. Such as headings and body text. You should never use the font tags (I have not checked your code btw so you might have already used CSS for this).

Hi Russ
We just had our web site designed and it really is a nightmare.
Just speaking as someone who has used Recruitment Web Sites over the years - I think its great.
The vacancies are easy to find and look at - the details about the jobs are clear and detailed.
It’s a friendly site - not to highbrow - some agencies make you feel as if they wouldn’t even look at your CV unless you’re a captain of industry!
Might be good to put some extra stuff on there to sell the agency to the companies that may use you to fill a vacancy, I was always very choosy when using an agency - you can waste loads of time on CVs that don’t match the vacancy - I wanted precision from an agency - if they didn’t have anyone suitable then don’t send in CV's on the hope we would see people.
Anyway loads of waffle - but I like the colours and think it looks really professional, gives the impression you would give an efficient service with no fuss.

I think it's a nice site, other than that stock photo bottom right on the front page - it looks American, which can't be a good idea for a UK recruitment business. Pretty strange I know, but for me that one image cheapens the whole site.

Thanks for your feedback Jo. Your comments are a big help, I always tell my clients that they really pay me for the CV's that I don't send them!!! I shall add something to the site to reflect that part of our service. Thank you...

Thanks Tim. I'm not to happy with that image either and am going to ask my developers to change it for a rolling text box with client and candidate testimonials. Thanks for your feedback.

Visually it's quite a nice site. Quite clear, just enough text and navigation easy.
Negative points are:
- The colour red (underneath Latest Vacancies) just doesn't go
- Maybe the main stock image on your home page is just a little too big (unless you are planning to increase the number of Latest Vacancies)
- From a technical point of view you do have 23 XHTML coding errors on your home page based on W3 guidelines. From your posts I understand your not too 'techie' but your designer will know what this means and how to correct the errors.
Hope this helps,
Dean

Thanks for your input Dean. I'm going to see if I can reduce the image slightly and put a little more information against latest jobs, such as salary and location.
Do you think the colour ties in with the logo colour and the other places that it has been used throughout the site? I think it also makes them stand out a bit more... Perhaps I'll give that one some more thought...
I will ask my developers about the 23 XHTML coding errors.
Thanks for your comments.
