Is it just me or does anyone else get a funny feeling when you can't find the company's address on their website?

Yes - I don't like that either - but I didn't take the time to check it!

It has got a free trial though which might be worth giving a go?

I think it's a really good idea by the way! It's a good customer care idea.

One of the most popular ones out there.

www.ipipi.com

We have used www.clickatell.com to send messages from our website. It is integrated into our web interface.

You know the problem with these sites?

They speak a language I don't understand. If anyone wants to see how not to talk to customers then do a google search for SMS messaging and check out any of the sites.

SMS API SMTP

yeah whatever!

How about a site that says - 'text your customers from your PC for 10p a text. Send the same text to loads or single texts'?

I've been using www.clickatell.com for several months with no problems.

Up to you, but you might want to take a look at: http://www.2ergo.com

They speak a language I don't understand.

I think the problem may be that a lot of these sites (like 2ergo) are aimed at developers rather than the end user / consumer.

Richard-

I've got to say you've got a great sense of irony sending me a link to a company that provides 'solutions to drive business performance' and ' empower you with choices on a multiserve platform'

LOL

But they're a world leading provider of convergent communications solutions.

And don't forget that the Multiserve Platform provides the engine through which 2ergo delivers solutions and services. Connectivity across mobile and fixed-line networks permits the receipt, conversion and delivery of all major communication protocols, including SMS, MMS, WAP, Email, Web and Voice.

Sorry, just catching up with the thread. Sorry I fall into the develop category so most of the bits and pieces there are automatically filtered as BS.

Another option is to DIY

Get yourself a GSM modem (Google it).
Download SMS/MMS server application (SMSNOW)
Buy a SIMM card

Plug the GSM modem into your server
Get a developer/tech guy for a day to setup thing up - including integrating your website using the supplied API

Game done - you are up and running in no time (I use the above solution in the shed)

One day you can even decide to let people send flowers (pictures) from your webstore to a mobile phone using MMS - from the same technology you invested - at no extra cost to you.

I won't charge you for the idea above ;)
