I am issuing a call to all local businesses in the area's above and surrounding area's. I am a local business owner of S4 ICT in Leigh and am committed to supporting our local economy..

It has been well documented that 2 things have the power to pull the UK out of recession and safeguard employement..

1/ The continued success of SME businesses

and

2/ Local businesses and communities working together to keep as much cash within their local economy as possible.

To those ends I am looking to establish a forum of the local business community to meet potentially one a month to discuss how our local businesses can actually work together better to keep cash in the local economy.

I really believe that within a 7-8 mile radius of Leigh, are some of the best skills, suppliers, independant retailers, manufacturers and distributors across a range of industries neccessary to have a huge impact on our local economy by simply deciding to work together more.

I dont want to create any kind of new network group that anybody pays for or has to commit to generating leads for others for. Just a group or forum of local businesses who have a genuine interest in thier own business growth as well as the prosperity of the local economy..

I'm looking for feedback on the idea from local businesses at this point.

Thanks

Phil

Hi Phil

I think this is an excellent idea. I am warrington based and have been at a loss to find a network group local to me that isn't part of a franchise or subscription based. Let me know how you get on. I am often in leigh so know the area well amd the amount of small traders the area still has.

I know everybodies time is presious, mine certianly is! So will be sensitive to this..

Come on business owners lets get together in strength for mutual and community benefit.

Sounds like a great idea Phil however I am not sure how many people would actually take the time to meet up although it could be very beneficial.

Myself and my business partner would probably be more than up for meeting up to discuss business and for a social :)

Noted Forexpro.

I suspect you are right, it's difficult for people to commit time the i feel strongly there is huge power in local businesses working together for the benefit of the local economy and local business properity in general.

Just a quick update, I had a meeting today with a business I work with in Wigan that delivers government funded training to young people and the long term unemployed. They have contacts with a huge number of businesses in the local area and suggested that there would be a good number of these who would want to support such a local business forum. So watch this space...

If we can establish that every business within a 15 mile raduis has its perfect suppliers / service providers within the same radius, who are just as skilled and competitive. An incredible amount of money would remain within the local economy, improving the prospects of every business and community. It's not rocket science folks, more wood for trees sometimes.
