Does anyone use Quark Express software at all?

We have a client who wants us to translate text within Quark Express files.

We already have the QE Passport 6.0 (multi language) software in our system but have so far never been asked for it. Is it difficult to work with for a newbie?

We only have a limited deadline for the project and I don't want to take it on if I am going to need 4 days just to learn the basics. We need to insert a translated text into files already built.

Thanks

JB

Hi

I have used it before, but personally I prefer Adobe InDesign. That said, most printers seem to prefer Quark. I guess ease of use comes down to what you've had experience of. If you've used anything along those lines, I can't imagine it taking you too long to pick up the basics - it's just a question of working your way round slightly different ways of working.

If you haven't used anything like this before, it will obviously be a bit more hard work, but it's a pretty intuitive piece of software.

Feel free to let me know if you have any specific questions though, and I'll try to help!

I love Quark - but that's because I've worked in publishing for years. It's pretty straightforward and simple to use. The toolbars are self explanatory really, and text insertion and linking is really easy too.

If you need any help at all, give me a shout.

Thank you both for the offer of assistance..

The job starts next week so I will have a quick look at it over the weekend and if I hit any problems I will give you a shout.
