Could you help with some market research:-

Does your company use exchange server?
If so, is this hosted or non-hosted or do you not know?
Who do use to provide this service to support your exchange?
Do you use blackberry/i-phone and is this using ActivSync or Blackberry Enterprise server?

No, hosted mailboxes. Use Blackberry with BIS.

Have you thought of looking at the Google solution (http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en-GB/business/messaging.html) for mail and calendar? It seems to be starting to encroach on the basics of Exchange.

At my work we use a company called simply mail solutions http://simplymailsolutions.com/sms_ms_exchange.php they offer a hosted exchange solution for £5.99 per month per mail box. If you have loads of mail boxes muight be better to look at a whole server or the option of hosting the server your self.
