Hi guys
Just doing some research about graphics cards. Would appreciate if you let me know which graphics card you prefer and why. eg. ATI, NVIDIA, Intel etc. If you can specify the model, that would be great.
Many thanks

Whichever's getting best reviews at the time when I'm building. I usually spend £200-400 on them. I think I juuust prefer nVidia to ATI but there's not much in it.

Back in the day Top Design Outfits always wanted Quaddro's now there is such a choice depending on what graphics you are makiing / How intensive rendering is going to be.
I'd currently choose ATi, something like a Asus or XFX HD4870 X2 2GB GDDR5 Mental card for the money.

depends what you want to do with it and your budget, nvidia (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?asu-mars) (the price is correct) seem to have the edge in power, however "bung per buck" goes to ati (http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/1GB-XFX-HD-4890-PCI-E-20(x16)-3900MHz-GDDR5-GPU-850MHz-800-Cores-2x-DL-DVI-I-HDTV-HDCP-Ready). ...What kind of designers? People doing 2D artwork could probably use any mid-range card, those doing CAD would be best with a specialist card.

I'm currently in favour of nVidia mainly because of Badaboom (an nVidia Cuda enabled video encoding application that uses the GPU to vastly accelerate what is a time consuming process normally, while keeping the CPU level low so you can still multitask)
