Just wondering,

Once someone told me, the word "Cities" isn't really used in UK..it relates to something like a cemetery or something..No idea of what he meant..but is that true?

The Oxford English Dictionary defines 'cities' as the plural of 'city', particularly (British), a town created a city by charter and typically containing a cathedral.

Hope you've got Wakefield on your list, it was made a city last year...not sure why they changed it though, because it isn't any bigger :D

The population figures are very mess leading. Manchester for example is a huge city, the city centre is the most built up city centre in the UK after London, it makes places like Edinburgh and Liverpool seem tiny.

For some reason London is counted as Greater London but Manchester never is, which I think is wrong. If London's population is 7-8 million then Manchester's is 2.6.

When I am in Stockport for example I am still in Manchester, the buses, police, fire service, the phone numbers are all Manchester.

Manchester is a metropolitan city like London, I wish the people that make these statistics would get that point.
