Hi
I've just developed a new site http://www.aneway4u.com with an online shopping cart - all payments to be made through paypal.
What I need to know is how to get this site up on the search engines and get it promoted asap.
Any ideas please and thanking you in anticipation

Just a quick aside (not a comment on the shop). Why paypal and not a standard payment gateway?
The trouble with paypal is that it requires people to join up and in joining up confirm amounts deducted by the paypal servers. Which is all well and good if you've online banking, but near impossible if you haven't.

Richards right - the site looks good, shopping cart works well - paypal at the end spoils it - I didn't go as far as the Paypal screen as I'd have to put in dummy details etc - but something like worldpay or another gateway would really add cred.
And as Callum says - feel free to drop me a line ref getting on the search engines - there are also some great threads on this forum and some SEO forums as well. The links to the specific SEO forums can be found dotted around this forum, the search function is your friend :)

You would want to look at changing the title of your pages - at present each page has exactly the same title: "A Neway for You - Independant Distributor for Neways International" - each page should have a unique title and the relevant keyword phrase you are optimising that page for should be in the title. Keep page titles short and as readable sentences, rather than stuffing them with keywords - your page title also needs to entice people to click through to your site when they see it on a list of search engine results.
Is the site content unique to you or is it a turnkey site from Neways? If the latter is the case then you may have to alter your content in order to make it unique - otherwise search engines will regard this as duplicate content and your pages would either not be indexed at all or would rank poorly if they were indexed.

Hi,
With regards to Paypal - I only have paypal for my online shop and have had no problems with people using it to pay me (if they don't want to use paypal they are happy to send me a cheque).
It actually doesn't require customers to register for a paypal account now, it will take you straight to the payment page where they put in card details etc... but they don't have to register a paypal account.
Full details are on the paypal site in the 'Merchant Tools' section.

Hi there,
One comment I'd make is that I don't think your front page doesn't emphasise enough that you support online shopping. An immediate change I'd recommend is to change the link that currently reads "Catalog" to read "Online store" instead.
As for registering with the search engines, there are plenty of good articles on the subject. Put simply, there are three jobs to do. First job is to make sure your pages are structurally valid - they should be valid HTML if possible, and an HTML validator (such as the one at http://validator.w3.org/) should be able to help on this if necessary.
Second job is to make sure that your pages contain the right information in the right places. Where possible, use the HTML H1, H2 and H3 tags. Also make sure that your META tags are up to scratch (see http://searchenginewatch.com/webmasters/article.php/2167931 for an example of one of many articles online).
Last job is to actually submit your site to the various search engines - really the main ones are Yahoo (www.yahoo.com), Google (www.google.com), MSN (www.msn.co.uk), Altavista (www.altavista.com), Lycos (www.lycos.com) and Excite (www.excite.com). There are dozens more out there, but these few search engines will account for more than 90% of searches going on out there.
It can be worth hiring a web design agency who specialises in search engine ranking for the job, it's something that we could certainly help you with, but if you feel like having a go yourself the above should hopefully get you started.

Hi
The remarks about Paypal aren't entirely correct.
Now, Paypal allow credit card payment without your visitors needing to sign up for a Paypal account.
You do have to edit your preferences in your own account though so that Paypal will allow credit card Payments.
Also, paypal have just launched an account, can't remember it's name whereby you can remotely take orders rom you site without the visitor even needing to go to Paypal, it acts in exactly the same way a merchant account does.
I think they charge around £15.00 a month.
I use paypal on my site and have received nothing but good comments about my payment options.

Hi
Many thanks for your advices to-date - am seriously thinking of using google adwords to promote site - at least it should get it up when people start searching and on a pay per click basis. Has anybody used this?

Hello,
I like the site. You need to get listed on as many directories as you can. This will raise the ranking of your site. Please submit to www.admax.co.uk. There are plenty of others.
You should consider adopting PPC to promote your site. Have your considered Google Adwords or Overture?
Good Luck!

hi, great site. I have paypal as optional. But use NOCHEX for the main payments. CHEAPER! QUICKER TO GET YOUR CASH! BETTER SUPPORT! if you ever have any trouble with PayPal you will understand what i mean, they make up the rules to suite them. It is terrible how they can get away with it. Good luck any way!

Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate Marketing is also known as Performance Based Marketing, or
Direct Response Advertising. This form of advertising refers to the
process of finding affiliate publishers of web and email newsletters
to promote a merchant advertiser's product or service. The affiliate
publisher will place a special tracking URL (link) to the merchant
advertiser's page. If the web visitor makes a purchase, the system
tracks and credits
The affiliate publisher for a payment.
A similar process is conducted for paying for online leads. Instead of
tracking when sales occur, a merchant can track when a signup to a
newsletter, or lead is filled out completely. Affiliate Marketing
presents a revenue sharing model for the publisher, as well as an
exposure for the merchant with no upfront payment. Any company
involved in direct sales, or lead generation should consider
developing sales or leads with affiliate marketing.
Our company offers many specialized services for those involved in
affiliate marketing.
• To recruit affiliates, we submit affiliate programs to over 200
affiliate directory and webmaster pages.
• We also prospect the most important affiliates by email, and
invite
them to become affiliates of our client.
• We deliver reliable methods to grow your affiliate base, which
will
send sales and leads to your business automatically.
• We offer a variety of software solutions to enable affiliate
tracking and work with many full service networks that offer affiliate
tracking and payment.
Viral marketing for link popularity and increase in target traffic
We can publish articles for the web sites which can directly increase
link popularity and increase in web traffic to the web site. In fact a
viral marketing if done well can result in establishing business as
industry leader and increases Brand value of the company among target
customers.
Our Services are reasonable!
The charges are 200 - 500 pounds depending on the Services you require.
