Im looking for complimentary products that can be added to my new personalised roses website.

We are looking for products to go under the section of 'Other Gifts'

Our customers will be given the option to add these items to their shopping cart with their purchase.

I am looking for unique suppliers of:

Chocolates

Mini celebration cakes

Greetings Card

Balloon

Teddy Bears

etc...

Of course we want something different, so homemade, hand made would be great.

Mark,

This is where your strategy comes into play. The items you list - chocolates, etc. - are what traditional companies would offer. You have focused your business on something unique: the ability to convey a personalized and unusual message through a rose. I recommend that you build on your unique difference.

For example, can you somehow print personal messages or a name on the top of each chocolate? Can the teddy bear play a recorded message from the gift-giver? Can a personalized message float around inside the balloon? Better yet, can you print messages on other types of flower or plant? Do you see what I'm getting at? Build on the 'personal and unusual' aspect of your business. If you just do what everyone else does, you'll lose your point of differentiation - and then you'll just be competing on price.

Hi steve,

Yes, Totally agree.

The products that I stated are to be offered as extras only.

If we dont offer them they will only get them elsewhere.

I feel our personalised roses business stands as a strong and unique product on its own and the 'extras' will only be offered at checkout for additional spend and ease of buying it all together for the customer.

Hi,

Hand made mini cakes take some doing and time, plus if people are wanted last min' rose delivery these sort of things wouldn't be an option. You can get large factory ones, but then the different aproach would have gone.

Things that are different that has a good shelf life...marzipan shapes instead of chocolate (in fancy boxes)...gingerbread personalised...knickers with names on (bit of fun for Valentines day  )...sugar frosted rose petals look good, as well as most fruit...mint flavoured sugar paste (taste like mint imperials) can be moulded to any shapes and dried out.

I'll have a think and get my books out, these are just off the top of my head :D

Hi Jayne,

A mini fruit cake with marzipan and white royal icing on on a silver board with a ribbon and bow on is what I was thinking about.

Maybe with a few basic piped icing flowers.

These products would be extras which people like to buy to bulk up their gifts.

These have a pretty good shelf life.

Messages can be added using a tag.

Im talking 10cm x 10cm max

I know what you mean, they sell them in the asda. I think you can bulk buy these..the ones I used to do now and again, were much more detailed and fancy. I made them to order you see.

They have got a good shelf life if done with a good fruit cake base, we never sold many except at christmas. They usually went for big iced cakes.
