My single-parent daughter is moving house in Reading and needs help with "the heavy work". She does not have a lot of cash and all the family in the vicinity is old. She wants to hire a truck, which one of the oldies will drive, but needs muscle to help with furniture and boxes.

She has two questions:

What is a fair wage for this muscle? One cousin has a 15 year old who MAY be able to help. What should she offer to pay him? What would she be liable for paying ANY muscle?
Does anyone know of any muscle for hire in the Reading area?
She investigated the man with a van option, but they have come in at around 80 quid an hour which is way out of her price range.

Moving approx Aug 15th.

Hi,

80quid an hour - woow. shocked!

Have you tried a removal company? we charge £45p/h this is for 2 men and 1 van.

Im not in your area but just thought i would suggest trying a removal company and forget your man & van.

For a lad of 15 i reckon hed be happy with payment in sweets and computer games! Seriously tho, £5 an hour for a 15 year old would make them wet themselves with excitement, simply tell them to bring a couple mates and before you can say slave labour, jobs done!
