My new project which is about to be launched is a designer specs service. We're offering Armani, D&G, Diesel and Gucci prescription specs at around half the cost of the highstreet. This isn't an ad, but rather a request for you to comment on our site at www.designer-specs.co.uk. Let me know what you think of the layout, useability and look etc.I look forward to hearing your comments.

As a 4 eyes person myself and in the market a few small comments.

1: Everyone’s face is different so how do we how they will look on us?
2: Your part numbers seem to made up i.e. not the brands so I can not walk into a shop, find what I like, take a note of the number and order from you.
3: Black writing on a grey background just makes things less clear which for me is silly when selling glasses.
4 Limited range
5: No help on style i.e. if you have a face like this you need to look at this type. Or even better have different faces that you can put the glasses on.

Your text is quite small and on a grey background. It is not possible to adjust the size.

Those with poor eyesight are going to find this site hard work to read and those that like to adjust their text to a larger size will be turned off.

You may think this is not important but it must be even more important if you are trying to appeal to those with visual impairment, no matter how minor.

Thanks for your reply Dave.

The site is not completely finished although it is ready to take orders. There will be many additions to follow including more frames from DKNY, Oakley and more. I should be able to source any frame so I'll get back to you on those Fila ones.

We advise customers to purchase the frames first and try them on before asking the lenses to be made. That means you can see if you suit the glasses first before spending money on lenses - this is noted in the faq section.

The "part numbers" are taken from the frames themselves. If you look on the inside of one of the arms they will feature the model number.

The last point you made has already been thought about. This is another addition we will be adding to the site shortly.

Thanks for your input and I'll see about those Fila's for you!

Oh, and I'm not sure why you can't increase the text size - I can!

I think you could do with studying some web accessibility books so know how to make sites for people with eye sight problems. Stuff like scrolling text (the marquee) really should be avoided for example.

At least I can increase the size of the text though.

yes I can but part of selling is making it easy to buy.

The less I need to do the better

PS Thanks for sorting out my glasses. Please get in touch as soon as you can re this and I will give a great reference for your site.
