I am going to draft some sales letters to get possible attention to my new personalised roses business and products.
Is there a standard layout I should use?
How is the best way to grab the readers attention?
These will go to businesses who we view as possible corporate customers in the future.
Does anyone have a sample of a past sales letter they have used?

Mark - one of the most important things is to get into the head of the person you are writing to and write to them alone.
The AIDCA (or AIDA) principle is a good one and well proven.
Others have commented that the hosting guy website (link below) is a fairly good sales letter - I haven't had a chance to read it since I wrote it - I typed it as I thought it and it took around 10 minutes.

Depending on the size of the organisation you are targetting the "Head of the Company" is not necessarily the best person to contact.
Whilst I am sure it was said in jest about sending it with flowers - I am sure it would actually get peoples attention if you did send a single rose with the "letter" in side the greatings card.

Hi all. Whilst there may be an element of 'fun' in VS's posting, that would be THE ideal way to promote the product.
Originality that will awaken the reader is sure to arouse their interest.

Thanks all,
I have had a pretty busy day adding all the text to my new website.
The ideas above are good and I do intend to send sample roses & sales letter combos to some key media contacts to grab their attention.
However this could become quite expensive and I need to keep cost down at the start.
I also read that a lot of sales letter and press releases are now sent via email. If this is so I need a way to make my 'online' sales letters stand out.
Without a photograph of the product its hard to grab the attention

Mark,
Remember that test and measure is crucial. You can go and send 10 000 roses, but if only one person comes back to you then that is definately not a good ROI. Have a few channels of distribution, see where you get the biggest return and focus in on that. That should keep costs to a minimum for a start as well and give you a bit of market research to start off with. If something doesnt work, change it. This is the beauty of marketing.
