I may be trying to ask too much in one thread but here goes...
I'm setting up a new website and have put aside space for ad banners - I know that I can get a better price by approaching advertisers direct but would like to use an ad network in the early stages to reduce my workload and to compliment the ad space that I can sell myself.
Does anyone out there have recommendations or advice about choosing an ad network? I gather that google and doubleclick (now google as well) are the biggest?
My related question is to ask if there is any benefit to using the same ad network to advertise myself - I will be using PPC advertising and had been intending to use Google Adwords as I've trialled it as part of writing my business plan and it seemed pretty good. I'd like to avoid placing adsense on my site however as I'm trying to maintain as clean and professional a look as possible and I feel skyscrapers look more professional than adsense.
Now, just to add further complication - I intend to set up an affiliate program as a key part of my web sales channel, although I was going to do this alongside my own PPC campaign. Affiliates would be paid a % of sales and I wondered if anyone would recommend a particular affiliate network?
