View Full Version : I need companies!!!!!

I have started to put together an e-zine for people that contribute their work ranging from writing stories to submitting recipes. I have paid money today for the e-zine to be listed on the web directory pages and to opt in subscribers. What I need to know is, can anyone give me advice on selling advertising space. I don't think the professional top dogs would be interested but maybe smaller companies would. I am selling the advert space cheap so that might attract them. How would I go about finding these companies?

I might be interested if you can offer more info - such as advertising costs

Is the ezine targetted at any particular group or is it general interest, designed to appeal to everyone?

Tell us more about it and we might be interested. Perhaps you could offer a really good deal to members of UKBF

The e-zine is designed to appeal to everyone. At the moment I have around 14 pages but am looking to increase it with new topics etc. To give you a better idea of what my e-zine is about goto www.freecybermag.com and click on copy of issue where you can open the e-zine to view. If you specialize in a particular field and you think that other people might find it interesting you can also submit an article so that it can be reviewed and appear in the November issue. Some people have found this a great way of advertising their business/interests etc for free.

Looks good :)

Do you have many subscribers at the moment? I think that (other than price) the first thing potential advertisers will want to know is how many people will be likely to see their advert, and who those people are. Because your subject base is so wide, I'm guessing it may be difficult to build up a profile of your "average reader", which makes it hard for advertisers to know who they're targetting with their ads.

Once you know those things (who's reading, and in what numbers) it will be easier for you to work out who you should be offering advertising to.

Thanks for your comments Amber. :D

As I am new to this web site business I haven't worked out how to track how many people are clicking on my site. I have about a hundred subscribers at the moment but this is optional and so others can open the mag without subscribing. I paid today for a company to send out my ad. promoting my site to over 1,900,000 opt-in subscribers to receive e-zines and I also paid for my ad to appear on thousands of search engines including the biggies. I'm hoping this will boost my reading rate.

Hi,

I'll have a think of something to write, but you'd need to double check my spelling (quite bad  )

Is it free to get these mags each month, I may print a couple off and put them in my cafe for my customers.

Hi Jayne.

I will get onto the web company about that as it happened the other day but I've found that when you click submit and it says page not found click on the back button and then submit again and then it goes through!!

It's a great idea especially if your reader numbers increase. I could easily let you have a photo and a little write up about taking the photograph itself.

Hi Rob -

An interesting concept, though if I put my web marketing head on, I am surprised that you have not created a html version of the magazine and market the site through search engines as well using all those lovely content rich pages.

Similarly to you, I shall be looking to offer people advertising space on my Bridal Resource website but the site is undergoing further development as we speak to add some functionality for the bride so it will have to wait a little longer.

As someone else has already said, I think people's first question is going to be, how big is your readership.

You mentioned that you do not know how to track how many people are visiting your site. You may want to insert some tracking code into your site if your hosting company does not already provide you with stats. Statcounter.com is a good one.

We are currently involved in developing an online magazine for a client too so it will be interesting to see how you get on.

Good Luck!

Well I did manage to find out some stats from the web site host I am using and was quite surprised by what I saw. It said that in the past month my site has been accessed over 3500 times and the copy of my mag has been uploaded over 250 times. Not bad since the mag was only attached a few days ago. So I am pleased witht he results. Not sure about using those html codes etc as haven't got a clue what they are ha ha. I'm had some great feedback from this site so I am looking to make my November issue bigger and better than Octobers. Fingers crossed eh.

Don't do too many pages, my stapler only just managed this issue  Also you haven't got a problem page, they usually do well, fun to read too.

Hi,

I don't work Tuesdays at the bakery, so i'm taking it in tomorrow...that's when my husbands finished with it. He loved the daft jokes. He said it's as good as the mags I buy...sometime get Take a Break and Mark loves it. I've been trying to talk him in to doing an article on baking, he's a crafts baker you see. :D I'll keep trying, he's not one for writing or the computer  Makes me do it all.

Get Mark to submit a Bakers page  and say he can have a picture of him included with the article too. That'll make him do it lol
