Hi, I've just switched from SKY to Orange, as my ISP. My son has a mobile contract with Orange, so their B/band costs nothing in monthly rental/usage, hardware (router) or installation. Our landline SKY telephone rental had to go back to BT (or Orange), and we pay Orange for our telephone calls. One big advantage, apart from the operating cost saving (as we have also canned our basic SKY SAT TV service), is that our download speed has gone up to 8MB, versus SKY's basic 2MB. Actual speeds obtained so far are 5.9MB for Orange, versus the 1.7MB metered from SKY.
Now to my one little niggle. I can't get my old LinkSys remote USB adaptor connected to my upstairs computer, to "talk" to the downstairs Orange router. It seems like I'll have to get the Orange "bespoke" USB adaptor, unless anyone has any alternative ideas. BTW, I have a nearly new LinkSys router, plus a SKY one as well now, cluttering up our spare room - if anyone is interested?

On the back of the orange router is 2 buttons Numbered 1 and 2.

Press 1 and a LED on top of the router should start flashing this means the router is in sync mode so things can connect to it.

Hope this helps :)

My router maybe a later version, as there are no buttons to press at all :(
If you have any other ideas, there'll be most appreciated.

This is only on the live box I believe.

One thing to note is that Orange have without doubt the worse customer service I have ever encountered :(

As I have got "an unbelievable deal" with Orange - AND A 3 TIMES INCREASE IN SPEED, you have switched on my worse nightmare ;)

I must admit. Orange never responded to my "web portal" tech problem message last week. As I needed urgent help to setup my Outlook email, I ended up paying for a phone call to one of their support agents. They kept me on the holding "music" for a while, b4 connection to a live voice (from India?). Then it took about 15 minutes to successfully sort out.

However, a couple of periods over the years with SKY, were not all roses! One incident was a "hung telephone line" for 3 days, which they charged me for! It was not until my wife spotted that we had received and made calls during the same 3 day period (also recorded on the invoice), that we could not have been on the phone for 3 days solid .... doh! No apology of course , just a very late refund.

You have to use Orange email servers (which are blacklisted) . Their technical support is diabolical.

You should not be having those problems. I conect to all sorts of providers when I am out and about. Try this: remove the adaptor from the p.c: uninstall the sftwre and drivers for the said adaptor: rebbot the p.c: re-install the software/drivers for the adaptor: Replace the adaptor: Then try it out: I did have a problem like that once when I changed routers and that is what I did and it worked like a charm. If you manage to get through to orange the will tell you to re_boot your p.c trust me, that will not work.

Do you have a USB Port on it somewhere? If so there should be two small buttons right above it....

No buttons on the surface, and with my luck, I'm not opening the box looking for hidden ones :(

However, I got it going today by using the Orange disk on the remote computer. I previously thought that as it worked OK with a LinkSys Speed Booster/adapter for receiving SKY, all I should have to do is change the SSID code, plus change the Security key #.
Eeeer wrong, as once I slotted in the Orange disk, with the networks area open, it all started to buzz, added the Security Key, as Orange device SSID was refreshed by the disk ...... and a few minutes later internet was returned to upstairs :)
Thanks to all, especially "roythehandyman" as he was right on the metaphorical button! With ..... uninstall, and reload new software and fire it up.
