Hi there

I have designed some contemporary greeting cards for Diwali, the Indian 'festival of lights' on 1st November. I wanted to give a percentage of the sale proceeds to Sense International charity, which supports deafblind people all around the world.

I was wondering what people thought would be a good percentage to donate to charity. 10%? 20%?

All feedback would be welcome. Many thanks.

Generally you will find that the charity will want to meet up with you and discuss what is a sustainable offering that you can maintain.
There is no point donating too much that you don't make enough profit to maintain your business, but then you also need to donate enought to make it worthwhile to the charity to allow the use of the logo/branding/etc.

It depends on your business as to how much you can afford. For example 20% in my business would be totally unrealistic for me to commit to. You need to calculate what your NET profit is going to be and then work backwards, saying something like "We donate Xp per card sold to charity".

I hope this helps.

Many thanks.
I have met the charity a couple of times and they are happy with anything above 10%. I just wanted to get people's opinions as to whether they felt that 10% was adequate or whether a higher figure was necessary.

I think 10% would be fine, after all you still have a business to run
