Recording singing onto cd

NOt sure if this is the right place to post or if anyone can help.

Would like to record children singing on karaoke machine. Does anyone know how I could do this and produce good quality recordings to burn onto CD?

HELP, dont know where to start with this one!

get them to sing on a mike while listening to the kareoke music on headphones. copy the kareoke cd onto your pc. then using a decent bit of music mixing freeware mix the two together. easy.
