Well, depends what business you are running actually. I use them, they are fine. However, I never get (or expect) any post :)

I assume we are talking about PO Box numbers for example. Is this because customers/clients prefer a recognised business address for correspondance?? I know a couple of Business Services companies in the area who use a PO Box as they never deal with Time Critical documents, any information needed urgently is usually faxed/emailed, plus this helped them out when they first started as they were working from home and felt their home addresses sounded exactly that, as home addresses, giving their customers a worse impression than a PO Box (Which has worked for them for a few years)

You can get mailboxes that use decent sounding addresses (Suite 1, 24 King Street etc) - these are great because the customer never knows this isn't the address of the business. PO Boxes make people think there is something to hide....in my opinion of course :)

In general PO BOX addresses do create the impression that a business has something to hide, even though a phone call to Royal Mail will give the address behind the PO Box number.
I know a few businesses owners who refuse to deal with a company that has a PO Box address as their postal address. Personally for me whether I deal with a company that trades from a PO Box address or even a London "suite" address depends on the service I am buying.
London and other "suite" addresses are so obvious they are forwarding addresses also, but demand for them is quite good.
