This is the best from far yet I have seen that O2 have Given!:D

02 has announced that from August they will allow all users to tweet from their mobile. O2 said that users will be able to turn on text notifications within Twitter and receive replies and direct messages for FREE.

02 said that the cost of this will be of just a standard message or the use of a text out of your text bundle or package.

They however have said that there will be no extra charge on the service but they are limiting the cap of messages a month to 600.

O2 released the following statement :
“We believe that mobile will soon become the most popular way of accessing social networks, giving real time access to tweets and status updates wherever you are” said Anthony Douglas, Head of Content (O2)

I've Twittering by text for ages now, good because it forwards same message to my facebook account as well.

Will be handy to receive direct messages back though...especially if free !

I feel strangely non-plussed about this news. I guess my take is that it isn't free, as it's using a text credit; and that quite a few of the DMs I get are welcome messages from people I have auto followed using Twollo -- I get probably 20 of those a day. I can't switch those off, but I wouldn't want to stop using Twollo OR miss a real DM...
