I'm looking into getting a premises to better my business, get more products in etc.

What do i need to consider when getting somewhere, and what expenses are involved when doing this?

Money is pretty scarce at the moment but i think im loosing a lot of sales due to not having many or the right choice of products in my shop, but i cant get products to my house because the wholesaler wont deliver to a non business address without business insurance etc.

I really don't know what to do for the best, seems like maybe i'll have to take a gamble on what is best. But it could be an expensive gamble ha. Any ideas?

rent a unit? You can get them for about £10 a week, doesnt matter if its small, you can move it all to your house or wherever you want.

£10 a week!? That would be good if i could get it set up for that. Are there any websites i could use to look for such a place? :)

I'm not sure how big i'd need somewhere either? Any rough guides on how to work out space needed is Sq.ft?

And are there any cost i'd need to think about that i haven't thought of yet?

Try gumtree.

If you are quite rural, a good watertight barn will probably be your cheapest.

If you are urban, you could try renting a small lockup/garage if the stock is low-value.

Edit

I think you are probably looking at about £40 a week minimum for urban lockups etc

Have you tried asking local businesses with warehouse/workshop units if they have any spare capacity? They might be willing to let you use them as a delivery address for a small fee. All they would need to do is sign for your deliveries and let you collect when required. Depends on the size of your products of course.

If by any chance you are in the Malton area of North Yorkshire, send me a PM!
