Hi all, I am looking for some key bits of advice to help me on my way.

I am, at the moment, in the process of starting up my own retail business which will be part of a corperation, like a franchise but without the ties. Initially with one location but hopefully branching to two within a year. My investor (the owner of the corperation consisting of around 4 shops) will be held as a shareholder taking a certain amount of the profits for the start up fees and distribution costs- as everything essentially will be running through his head office.

I am in a position now that I am just looking for real gems of advice on running the business (personal, tax breaks, money makers) that people have found, through their experience, to be benefitial. Also if anyone has had experience in running businesses in this "franchise" type manner.

I hope that I learn something new that I might not be able to read in any books.

I look forward to your advice

Thanks

Nick

Why not go to the Franchise Exhibition at the NEC on 7 and 8 October and discuss this with people there to help you.
