What speed you on?
We use the 20gb bb and have a netgear WGR614 and find it both reliable and it covers a great distance (around 200m at full reception)
I know that there are some great new n series routers out there too.

I am on 20MB but the range isn't brilliant. I want to sit in my garden.

HI
A Lynksys wr54gl works a treat with my VM broadband and you can alter the firmware to tomato if you wish and really play with all the settings.

Cable broadband.... oh I am sooo jealous :)
I'd look at the Draytek if you want something pretty decent tbh.

DLink DIR 655 - fantastic, 200mb on the WAN
There is a router chart somewhere, the DIR655 is in the top 3, it's big brother has 230mb on the wan, you will need to google the chart, some of the netgears do around 34mb which won't cut it for the 50mb service.

ADSL!
Slanderous Aspersions Sir!!! Thout should be ashamed. ;)
Telewest were one of the first true cable BB before the got bought out by VM, I must admit i didn't even think they had started doing ADSL.

:D PMSL
I stand corrected. I have been a client since the days of NTELL...
btw, I was referring to the router not the service ;-)

I'll just state the facts:
MIMO + Wireless N = Longest standard 802.11 range to-date.
I recommend:
D-Link DIR-655 Xtreme N Gigabit Router
or
Netgear WNR2000 (tends to give setup problems with virgin media)
