I am writing an assignment on the problems of an organisation of my choice. I am keen to explore the negative effects of Ebay on local organisations and solutions to these problems. Can anybody direct me to/Is involved with such a company?

Failing investigating an organisation I am allowed to investigate an industry.
I recently saw a documentary on the effects of Ebay on antiques dealers.

Laura sounds like an interesting assignment. I work in IT so can't give you any direct information but .....
Consider more than just ebay, how has the current trend for television affected the antiques industry e.g. flog it, cash in the attic etc that has made us all aware of Clariss [?] Cliff
Do a PESTLE analysis on the sector to see what else might have affected it, both internally and external. Include a SWOT analysis on the business model. Include a bit on handy's frog (organisations avoiding creeping change) etc.
Crikey .. I feel an ebook on management models coming on .....

Laura,
There are always at least two interpretations of any situation. Some might argue that eBay used new technology and new business models smartly when other organisations did not. What about the effect of discount airlines on traditional airlines, the effect of Amazon on local bookstores, or the effect of online trading on traditional financial brokers?
This is an interesting topic, so I'm sure you'll find plenty of material and opinions.
