hi Courtesan,
There are so many excellent free shopping cart scripts out there but you have found a classic in nopcart. :-)

I would recommend that you do not touch Nocheck with a bargepole, you will have loads of abandoned carts as people do not like it, they will also retain loads of your money in case of customer charge backs, you would be far better off going for Sagepay or similar all IMHO of course :)

pinakin: dont know what you mean. can you suggest something else.
nochex is a good option for us... and I'm happy for them to keep a large amount.

To supply you a grown up shopping cart: £2000 upwards (or just £100 pa, if you just want an installer and a hosting package)
To give you the information you asked for: free - http://www.nopdesign.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2435
To make it take mastercard - priceless

Hi,
This shouldn't be too difficult. If all is already working and you are just changing payment provider then it could be only a days work including testing.....
If you would like me to have a look a bit deeper PM me with your site and contact details and I will be able to give you a better idea.

Agreed, NoChex will deter more potential customers than most other PSPs you could try. They have a 'liquid' policy on keeping merchant funds and have an appauling customer services.

Sorry for the delay in replying
Over the years the number of bad news stories and feedback about NoChex has far outweighed anything good anyone has had to say about their service.
The PayPal affect where a reasonable percentage of potential customers turn away from shops that just offer PayPal as a payment option is amplified with a smaller rival like NoChex.
We've seen checkout conversion rates increase time and time again in many different markets when PayPal or similar are relegated to a secondary payment choice behind a UK PSP.
The only exception is in certain adult entertainment markets (betting, adult toys etc) but for the most part if you want your online shop to be taken seriously by more visitors then get a merchant account and use a UK PSP such as RBSWorldpay, SagePay or PayPoint.

I partly agree with some of the previous posts, especially quickshops last one. Having only Nochex can reduce conversions. We have both Nochex and PayPal and saw an increase of about 40% when we introduced PayPal.
However it also depends on how you market the idea of PayPal or Nochex to your customers. You should make it very clear that you do not need an account to use either.
Nochex do have a policy of holding funds, however depending what sector you are in this can be far lower than other merchant accounts. We have applied for others but the funds they want to hold can be outrageous. The best we could find was 100% higher than Nochex currently holds, whilst one would have worked out at 1666% more than Nochex.
If you look after your account and don't try to mess them about Nochex are pretty decent. I have had to contact them about various things and never had a problem.

still up and running today when I spoke to them.
I've posted numerous times on nochex, couple of frustrations etc, but overall the good outweigh the bad.
I still use them on a couple of sites.

I have used Nochex as a merchant processor for many years without problems. If you have a merchant account then you have your own account manager with telephone support and I have never had an issue that was not solved immediately or in a couple of hours at the most.
We don't list Nochex specifically as a payment option, Nochex is where clicking on the Credit / debit card option takes my customers. The payment cart is completely customised and matches the rest of my site perfectly.
I have very few abandoned carts when the get to Nochex and less I think than paypal which we also offer.
The thing I like best about Nochex is that you can use one account to process payments from many different businesses / web sites and customise the Nochex page to match each one by setting up additional merchant IDs in Nochex and then passing the merchant ID with the payment to ensure the correct customised page is displayed.
Thanks
Richard
