Hi all, I was wondering if the people who use barcodes could shed some light on a good place to purchase one, I only need one.!

Im thinking of using www.barcode1.co.uk any know reason not too or other advice / recommendations?

works out about £38 all in for the number, graphic in .pdf/.gif/.bmp format and a Guarantee Certificate.

Any advice appreciated, thanks in advance.

thanks ServWise,

I should have mentioned I need a EAN-13 barcode, I think those free types are for small retailers selling their own wares, or using their own barcoding system just for their own purposes.

I plan to sell through retailers and distributors, aswell as direct to consumers so I think I need to use the European Article Numbering system.

Im new to all this so if I have understood this wrong I'd appreciate any advice.

Thanks

Danny

There are very few people who can sell 1 barcode, you can buy 10000 from GS1 for about £130, but you have to buy the lot, you cannot buy one from them and you cannot sell them on.

Hi Toatallysport,

thats what I know of GS1, the company I linked to state this was their reason for setting up their service, as not everyone wants more than a few or ongoing fee's etc.

it says on their site that they are allowed to sell on because of various reasons, they come from GS1-US, .

trying to find someone who has used them to check them out before proceeding.

Thanks

There are 3 companies that allowed to them them singley, which is down to their terms and conditions when they first signed up, but at £40 per barcode, if you will ever need 3 or 4, your better the pack from GS 1.

If your unsure contact GS1 they are very good and will validate the other company for you no problem.

We used barcode1.co.uk for the barcode for our new game.
They provided good prompt service - £20 for a barcode number - one off fee, no annual costs. the image was £3 extra - but I don't think GS1 provide the images anyway.
It certainly beats paying the annual costs to GS1 when you only need a couple of barcodes.
