Has anyone had dealings with PFA Media (UK) Ltd?
I was stupid enough to be conned into an ad, which I believe to be nothing more than a scam. So I've refused to pay and its now in the hands of my solicitor.
I'm looking for anyone who's dealt with the said company and was wondering if they have ever actually taken anyone to court!
I feel a little stupid about falling for it, but they caught me off guard when out in the van. Had I been in the office, I could of checked my records and told them where to go!!!!!!!
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

Hi
I have just received an invoice from the previously mentioned media company. I have called to cancel the agreement and suprisingly it's an answer machine. I am I best to ignore the invoice or email to cancel the agreement?
I believe if I make any contact with the company due to them cold calling am I in confirmation of any agreement being made? Also aren't I to be advised the call is to be recorded? if this is their only way of confirming an order is in place.

Unless they are a telecom company they would need to have you agree to some form of terms and conditions. You would either need to agree by electronically accepting T&C's or you would have replied to a fax T&C with your signature.
Other than that I can't see where they can keep you binded to a contract. Verbal agreements are done with telecoms as far as I know. In regards to telephone call recordings. You have the right to review any form of documentation the company has with your records on and you can also request the telephone call and they would have to send it to you by law. So if they have an inhouse software package which allows the staff to keep logs of calls and company details. You can request everything with your company name attached to it. As in court cases you can review every bit of evidence the opposition has as they have the right to review yours to make a case fair.
For more help on this matter please send a PM and I'll try and get mroe information out to you ont he business whcih me and others on here found very interesting once I blew the dust away ont his business.

Why don't everyone refuse to pay? lol. I would love the small company thinking it will take you all to court without hitting the wall in the process...

Just ignore them. If you google them you will see its a scam, they threaten to sue lots of people but no one has been sued.
They are a bunch of fraudsters hoping to use legal threats to intimidate people into paying their invoices. They won't go to court and never have because they know their case will be booted out.
Just toss their rubbish in the bin and forget about them.

They have been taken to court. And they have lost.
15/06/2006
Northamption CCBC
Amount: £125
Status: Judgement
Case Number: 6QZ33428
Unpaid
They have been trading since 1997. So as previously mentioned they just bully companies in to paying by the looks.
Again I'm available to anyone needed background information on this business that probably not suprise you but will bring things to your attention on the company you may have not known was there!

We have been inundated with calls from different orgs. I asked PFA media to send me the tape which the duly did and it does have me confirming advert. She says recording conversation etc and I reply to everything but I thought I was talking to another company and feel really stupid now that I have seen everything. The following day I go a call from another company using the same script 'as per our last telephone conversation we are confirming we are taking your details of our database so you won't be hassled anymore'.
When PFA rang saying they wanted to get details of our advert I realised that they were not the same company that I though I was dealing with and told them that would not be having any further verbal communication with them and if they wanted to communicate with us then they should do so my email. The then sent out a proof of the advert along with the invoice. I sent this back registered post and said we hadn't agreed to it but they then sent me the tape and it is me clear as day.
I called them explaining that we are a charity and did not realise that it was a different company that was ringing us as had so many calls with people using the same script. What is the advice on what to do - I am as clear as day on the phone for confirmation but do not remember the original telephone conversation agreeing to advert. I have been told that manager will ring me back.
Any tips for when they call back??

Guys,
See my article "trumped up charges" at http://www.financecpd.co.uk/jamesfairchild
Ignore them, do not pay, and if you get court papers then defend yourself on the grounds of no contract.
One of these idiots called my office the other day - I let him prattle on for a bit, then used two words one of which is "off".

Hi Similar Experiences To Everyone Else- Been In Touch With People Listed On Mailing List And The Police Fire And Ambulance Service Have All Confirmed That They Do Not Enter Into Any Such Arrangement With This Company Or Similar Companies.
Have Informed Ccs/pfa And Am Still Recieving Various Mailings.
Will Now Discuss With My Solicitor And Look At Other Ways To Close This Matter.
Have Harassed Me For Twelve Months .
