Does anyone know a simple, foolproof and idiot-resistant way to get a map with an area circled onto your site?
Don't want to use screenshots of a google map as they look poo, have managed to imbed a google map but cannot add a shaded area that moves with the map as you look about.
Help!

Hi Beachcomber
Is this the sort of thing your after:
http://discuss2.open.ac.uk/~jeffery_s_peabody/wk10MapVer2.htm ?
I'm doing an OU web development course at the moment and last weekend's task was to do this very thing!
If it is, I could talk you through the few (3 or 4?) very simple changes you'd need to do to adapt the map for your own site.

Hi Beachcomber

Almost it - I'm after something like this - but still a google map so you can scroll it around while the circle stays in place and the map / satellite / hybrid functions etc. still work:

Take a look at this URL

they have something similar... you can put in a distance in miles or kilometres and then it will draw the circle.
You'd have to be a bit handy with the javascript to use this.
