If I wanted, for example, to sell trainers, could I have a website called:

www buyNiketrainershere com

or, if I wanted to sell football kits:

www westockManUtdshirts co uk ?

I don't wish to do either, but can you (legally*) use a brand name embedded in a domain name like the examples above? It seems like a neat way to get a half decent domain name that a user might remember and contains 'keywords.'

Thanks

Jeff

(* sorry - wasn't sure whether this should go in the e-commerce or legal forum, so I plumped for the former.)

You are not allowed to use any brand name without the concent of the owner and if you do use them in your domain name you are heading fro trouble as the owners would more than likely have them taken down

Thanks - I thought that'd be the case, to good to be true otherwise!

one of our clients did it several times and got the blessing of the brand owner.

Using Brand Names in the domain in any shape or form would be ok until the Brand Owner finds it. Especially the bigger the brandname the more the problem they could create for you.

Thanks.
