Ive just joined....and havent learked much so i hope this is OK..

The company i work in is planning to advertise a business name/names
in a small publication which will be distributed area by area throughout the UK then USA and AUS....we intend to take on franchisees to take-on the workload in each area as we expand throughout the country
We have done this before and by the time our publication became regional someone else set-up in a different area using our name, preventing us from continuing....
Without having to spend vast amounts on TradeMarks
i am assuming that a national press advert would prove our ownership of the name_trade throughout the UK? is this correct??
We have put the business name up in the web version of the publication
with a list of all UK areas which the name covers, i have then copied the HTML file and sent it to a wanadoo account(unlikely to be dubious)
thus proving the date of the page....
Is this also legal proof, and would it negate the need for the national press advert??
are there any other cost effective ways of protecting the name and how much?? and if we do need a national press advert does anyone have any contacts to help us get maybe some sort of editorial?? to save on our set-up costs...
