System?!?

Hello all,

I have been giving yet another computer by someone I know, now I am thinking of using it to keep customer records, and orders (no credit card details).

Just stuff like:

Name, Address, Product they ordered..

This way if I decide to start a mailing list with new products/offers I could email the people who have bought certain items.

Now I was wondering what you would put on the computer, and how you would do something like this, or do you do something similar already?

You could enter this on a straightforward spreadsheet or if you have Access, there are a few templates you can use for contacts database. If you want to know more, pm or email me.

Alternatively, we could design a database for you but you can pretty much do it yourself.

I would also suggest you put the names and addresses in a datafile so you can use when you do a mailshot.

ok thank you... I am trying to setup my os commerce site at the moment, is their anyway to link the computer to the site so I can download any orders I recieve each day?

As to be honest i would like a smooth intergrated system...

Excel spreadsheet with headings for Name, Company, Address, Phone, email and website then save it as a .CSV file. Like Anne said you can then use it for mail merges

Can't help you on the OS Commerce, over to you web specialists! I am sure there is a way, but I don't know how to do it personally.

You could write a new simple PHP application which connects to the MySQL database used by Os Commerce.

Its fairly simple to do but the cheapest you're likely to get anybody to make this for you is about £100.

Its about two hours work for somthing quite simple.
