I usually keep all my claims for a while and do them in one go as they are such a hassle. I had a claim for a missing parcel from October 2008 but had to wait a couple of months anyway as it was international to see if it would turn up.

I completed the form recently as it states that claims must be made within 12 months of the posting date and sent it off. I got a standard letter back where they had ticked the box for rejection as claims had to be made within 6 months.

I have sent it back again higlighting the place on the form where 12 months is mentioned but wondered if anyone could shed any light on this. Have the forms been changed recently or are they just trying it on?

It's particularly annoying as I paid a lot of extra money for insurance.

I picked up one of those forms for International damaged or lost mail earlier this year at the post office and it says on mine: 'We cannot accept your claim before 25 days or after 6 months from the date of posting'.

The reference number of this form is 'P58INT (2008)' perhaps yours is older? (it is at the back of the form right at the bottom).

The royal mail are legendary in their attempts to get out of paying claims.
Ask when they changed their terms and conditions from 12 to 6 months - if the item was posted at a time when the 12 month rule was still in force then it was posted under the then current terms and conditions and not subject to future revisions.

Get it settled fast though - as of July the buggers will only pay out the cost price of a lost item, not the retail price!

I hate Royal Mail. The sooner they've got serious competition the better. I wouldn't mind paying slightly more for my postage for a bit of decent customer service.

Already in place as of when I claimed for missing/lost parcel. My claim was from May.

I want to know if I can claim for whenever RM have not even attempted to deliver a recorded parcel!! I checked the tracking online and the parcel was still in the post office, they even found it out the back but refused to give the postage fee back!
