Hi everyone, Warren here.
I am a director for Choose Spain Ltd, based in Sunny Cornwall which my wife and I run together. I was looking for guidance on providing charitable donations as a company and my search on Google brought me here, and seeing what a friendly forum this is, thought I'd register and introduce myself. Our company which advertises owner managed holiday homes started as a hobby to advertise our own place in Spain and like a lot of these things escalates to becoming a full time job, well almost full time.....right back to the surf.

Hi Jayne,
Thank you for the welcome.
With most of the properties directly from the owner and bypassing the travel agent, you avoid the mark up. We only advertise the properties much like the classified section of a newspaper, so the owners handle the enquiries, bookings etc, this keeps the price down as well. It also means I don't have such a big headache.

The sun's shining here, and with the beach so close, I feel like I am on holiday!! And now I'm now wondering why I'm sitting in front of my PC. :?

Hi Sean,
Nothing in Cadiz, but some of the owners have properties along that coast not too far away. And thank you for the invite, though getting me passed Bodmin moor is an effort. :D

Welcome to the forum, hope you find it useful, we certainly have.
Checked out your site, nice layout look and feel.
Back end coding looks a bit ropey... Entered a query for appearments in the Balerics & got the a raft of errors. Some of which are shown below.
As a suggestion I'd set aside some time and money to put together a good test specification and check that the site performs correctly with a wide range of input data. The last thing you want is your end customers reporting these sorts of problems, it looks bad.

Hi Enigma, error was down to an external sites search facility we were hosting from Ibiza hotels, one I point out I didn't write!! Anyhow as you say it looks bad on us and we should have checked their system before hosting it, it is now removed until they sort it out. Will heed your advice for future.

Have you ever considered ChooseCornwall.com?

Hi Steve, Yes I did, but decided to help out a friend here and set him up in business with a Devon and Cornwall accommodation site. I provided him with the backend of the site and for the rest he's teaching himself with my help, though I'm still learning as well.
Where in Cornwall were you living and do you miss it?

Hi Warren,
Welcome to the forum. I like your site, sat here day-dreaming about going on holiday.
Just a thought, but for the portugal site, have you considered approaching owners at Praia del Rey? My parents have a house there and it is a huge development, still growing, with many holiday homes available to rent out. The site is - http://www.praia-del-rey.com/index.html. They offer a rental service there, but it is optional, so I am sure there is room for others. There is another resort being built and marketed down the road from there called Bom Sucesso, which would also be a good source of new property owners. It is definitely an up and coming area and would be good to look into as it is currently 1 hr from Lisbon, but they are building another new motorway, so then the area will be just 15 mins from Lisbon airport.
Hope that helps.
Kate.

Where in Cornwall were you living and do you miss it?
While I grew up in SE Cornwall, my family comes originally from the Roseland peninsula. Almost all my family line comes from that region - as far as records go back (1500s).
It will sound odd to English ears when I say that I never admit to being English. When I travel overseas and customers ask me where I'm from, I always say UK or Britain. If they push me, I'll say that I am Cornish. Maybe it's because the other Celtic countries are bigger, but we don't think twice about a Welshman being from Wales and not from England, or a Scotsman being from Scotland and not from England.
Do I miss Cornwall? Well, it's in my blood, so I do a little. I get back to visit family whenever I can. I have no regrets, though. I live overseas and I travel the world on business. If this was the 17th century, I'd be an adventurer on a ship somewhere. That's in my blood too.
Anyway, I don't mean to divert the conversation. Welcome to the forums, and all credit to you for being willing to help someone else get their related business up and running.

Hi Kate, Thank you for the welcome and tip, I'll drop them a line and see. Though I hate the cold and wet myself, it is good for business getting more people thinking about holidays somewhere warm.
Hi Steve, You and your family must be one of the last true Cornish around. I'm a foreigner here (Cornwall that is :) ), though I love it, very relaxed and friendly. All the best on your travels.

Hi Warren,
You have already had a nice warm welcome, but thought I would pop in and say hello too!
My Dad was born cornish but now lives in Daventry (?!?!?), but my Nan still lives in Roche. A very nice place if not somewhat becoming over populated with new homes being built all over the place to cater for the "foreigners" ;)

Hi there,
Welcome to the site!
I checked out your site and it seems to be full of great deals. I'd love to purchase an investment property in Europe soon.
Hope all is going well so far.

Hi Ozzy,
What a great forum, an excellent place for new businesses to gain knowledge and ideas.
I know I should probably feel quilty as I had a new house built here, but I can't, young family in tow and it is great watching them grow up here. Don't know that I'll ever understand the language, but with a wife from Somerset, the accent is a doddle.
RSL, you might want to look at Turkey or Bulgaria for investment, prices there are dead cheap and I think will have a property boom, if they aren't already.
