Yup, PPC will get you lots of visitors within a few hours.

Radio advertising, newpaper ads, big promo in the the city centre?

You could maybe do it via twitter.

I can get 9,000 twitter accounts in the space of 72 hours linked!

How many of those are likely to become qualified leads though? If it is a good system then how long before it becomes so exploited as to be worthless?

If you need quick traffic, then PPC is the answer.

SEO is a longer process, but more of an investment into your website. (but not a guaranteed investment) A little like the stockmarket.

Quick traffic is usually bottom of the market and unsustainable. With websites, particularly ones like yours you need to think long-terms as your niche is very hard to break into.

You can get 20K hits for £20 according to a recent poster - totally useless though. There are programs called pay per view, which will charge you 0.2p per page view. Complete garbage.

David is right, if this is a voucher code site you have social or paid traffic is a waste of time.

The sites that make most money for me are not the ones with lots of traffic. They are the sites that rank for one of two keywords that SELL STUFF.

To make money you are going to want to rank for brand / voucher or product / voucher terms in search engines.

Your target market are people who already know what they want, and where they want to buy it and are dong a last minute check before purchasing. So, if I am about to order a laptop from Curries I will run a few queries like:

"Curries voucher codes"
"Curries discount codes"
"Curries laptop voucher codes"
"Curries sony laptop discount codes"

just to make sure there is not a better deal to be had before I order.

If I were doing a voucher site I would stick to a single theme, like electronics, or something like this which does voucher codes for womens accessories (http://www.pinkdeals.net):

Much easier to rank than trying to shift nasal hear removers alongside lawn mowers and LCD tv's...

Yup... but you are more likely to lose than make money running PPC on voucher codes.

Off topic a bit but this is a perfect example of how longtail searches work. You could play with the Google keywords tool all day and never come up with all the combinations of words people use. People don't necessarily search for 'voucher codes' but they will search for specific voucher codes. Focus too much on a small keyword set and you can miss out on millions of longtail searches.
