I think you're a little confused, there's no such this as Microsoft Photoshop, the creators of Photoshop or Adobe, an advanced software company that creates software for professionals such as designers, illustrators, producers and so on and so forth.
The advantages of using a software like Photoshop rather than using Powerpoint is that Photoshop is a dedicated piece of image manipulation software with endless customisation options and where there's always something new to learn. Using Photoshop you can create professional web designs, manipulate and finish images and much much more. With Powerpoint, you're limited to a poor design with limited customisation and a poor user interface.
Really, there's no competition. Download the Adobe Photoshop trial from here (http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/photoshop/) to see if you get on with it, I'll be surprised if you don't see how powerful it is.

:-)
There is some competition. its called GIMP and despite the dodgy name its pretty powerful with the added bonus of not costing a fortune (not costing anything actually)

GIMP is a little competition yes, but only in the freelance community where individuals cannot afford to spend around £400-£500 on a piece of software that is superior, no doubt about it. I've never once heard or seen of a studio that uses GIMP as their main image manipulation software.
That being said, it's a good piece of GNU kit for people who want to start of designing sites or playing with images, but to be honest it's nowhere near as powerful as Photoshop.

Photoshop Elements is the cut down version which is good enough for most people.

I have never seen such a user friendly application like Microsoft Power Point. And this is the main advantage and that why so many professional feel it easy to operate one & also,It is a Platform independent Application.

Ha! Just blowing the dust off the BBC micro - with it's powerful 128Kb of RAM.
BTW, good to know that Power Point is a 'Platform independent Application'

Is that the one with the red F keys? We were taught Computer Studies on those at school back in the day, and I had one for 'games' at home. They rock ;)

Total time from turning on the power to ready for use was about a nanosecond - such was the power of the ROM (no wimpy hard drives for the BBC). And you could plug it into your 28" Fergusson to play games on the telly - remember Elite?

One day a game will come along that is better than Elite, but it hasn't happened yet!!!
Might have to dig the Beeb out tonight and reminisce!

I actually have one about 20 cm away from my foot right now. I keep meaning to ebay it, but I need to find a cable to check if it operates correctly.
