I have used them as part of a campaign to increase the profile of a brand in Birmingham.

It was for a service provider rather than a retail product. From a response point of view the list belwo shaows of the marketing things we used, written in the order of how successful they were according to feedback from clients using the service:

1. High impact poster that took up entire window in service provider shop window (was in a very good footfall area).
2. Saw launch party event on opening day (again, was in high footfall area)
3. Read press coverage in local paper.
4. Saw taxis.
5. Had a letter.
6. Saw bus/train station adverts.
7. Micro website linked from ads with online version of local papers
8. Radio competition (was with Birmingham's largest radio station as well, the campaign and results were terrible).

Hi, I know this is an old post but I thought we'd offer our services anyway,

please get in touch and discuss possible taxi advertising campaigns with us. We also now offer mobile billboard service (fantastic for PR!)

Please refer to PR uses/News sections on our website for information on previous campaigns.

Joanne I have seen this there is also a new thing out where some taxi companies will spray or wrap there taxi in a color of your choice to get them selves noticed!

A local firm has just wrapped 6 taxis in white with blue writing it is very eye catching.

I think taxi advertising is a great advertising medium. Works out £25 per week to be in the public eye 24/7

It is a good advertisement. But how much does it cost? I am also interested in such advertising.

Yes that does sound very interesting, how effective do you think it would be?

I thought I'd post a few facts for you:

10.5 million people saw a taxi ad in the last week

61% of audience is 15-44

71% of adults say they often notice advertising on taxis

38.4m trips by taxi are taken every month

Taxis reach areas that can't be reached by other media

Taxis travel an average of 126 miles per day in populous city centre locations and unlike buses and trains they are not restricted to one route.

Details of our prices can be found on the Cabvert website or you can call one of our sales team who would be happy to discuss your requirements and provide a quote.

i've always been skeptical about taxi advertising..

1) the product must have broad appeal, taxi advertising is not targeted marketing
2) unless you advertise on a large fleet of taxis, you are only 'connecting' with a potential customer once, making it difficult for people to remember your specific ad again
3) very difficult to measure effectiveness

just my thoughts

Is there any mileage (pardon the pun) in advertising on the back of taxi receipts?

"We can take your business where you want it to go" type advertising or is it too small an outlet to effectively measure?

Branded receipts can be included into the whole advertising service and are a great addition to your campaign as they can be retained for reference or passed on to other potential customers.

1) As you say, This is one of taxi advertisings unique selling points...The ability to advertise to wide target market on a non restricted route. However, there are target markets that can be reached within taxi advertising, an example would be commuters, executives etc. Also depending on how the taxi is designed means that it can attract the attention of your desired target market on the street.

2) Again this can be dependent on how unique the design is and which city you are advertising in. A client of ours has just 1 taxi working in Liverpool, and as a resident of the city myself I have seen it several times when out and about during the week/weekend, day and night.

3) There is progress being made with regards to this. Cabvert has a track-a-cab system in place which can measure certain things such as

°° Unique hourly operating times.
°° Waiting times at key ranks i.e. Euston Station, Heathrow Airport and Piccadilly Circus.
°° Average Journey times in each city.
°° Rank designated cabs.
°° Real time viewing on your own desktop of the whole campaign.

There are both positives and negatives to all advertising mediums but I think taxi advertising is emerging above all the noise as quite a unique medium over which to communicate commercial messages.

I know it's not quite receipts, but an example of how literature inside the cab can work..
