Email to a Friend link. Good or bad idea.

I'm trying to decide whether to add an "Email to a friend" link to product pages on my web site. At first thought it seems like a good idea, how often have you seen something and thought someone you knew would like it or you've come across something that they've been trying to find for ages. On the other hand I'm wondering if there's a less than obvious downside to these links that I'm missing?

Well it crossed my mind they can be open to abuse, but I have to admit I do use them when available. Always use my hotmail address mind you.

Hopefully shouldn't have any problem with abuse as it's a feature built-in within ekm's setup.

I wondered how many people use such links as I don't recall ever using one myself, I guess there's at least one person I know who does now. :)

personally dont use the feature myself, tend to purchase purely for myself, but if you get some sales from it, its a benefit.

That was pretty much my thinking, plus it's dead easy to implement. Just as it's something I've never used on any site I've done before or a feature I've ever used persoanlly, I was curious in case I was missing some downside.

What I was thinking is you're inviting users to email people from your domain which could be abused, although I'm not familiar with the EKM setup so there may be some registration system in place.

its good idea to share a friend link for your on line shop business as long as the link one is renowned and the same business, will get you profit by IP flow!

I'll have to double check it, but as far as I'm aware it doesn't come from my domain, it comes from their own servers so has a sender of somthing like ekmpowershop1.com.
