Hi to all,

I want to form a mailing list and email database of possible customers for my products. The product generally can be purchased by all groups in the UK because it is new I would really like to rely for the begining on the ethnic group from where this product is produced as they would most likely support their new products in the UK being that it does not exist here as such.

Can anyone advise me where or how I can obtain email addresses that relate to a targeted group(s). I have enquired as to obtaining mailing lists and emails through, churches, social clubs etc but without luck.

Can anyone help with advice?

Thanks

You don't say if you are planning on sending to consumers or businesses?

As a general rule, you cannot send emails to consumer without them having either requested information specifically from your company, or have requested information from companies on your product.

Unfortunately, this means most purchased email lists cannot be used - despite claims of 'opt-in' they cannot by definition have opted in under either of these rules. Of course, there are exceptions, as I am sure you can get list of people looking for common things like car insurance.

B2B is different - as long as it is a business offer to a business emails address, there are no restrictions at the moment.

One option is to piggyback on newsletters sent by established web sites with a similar customer profile - you could either pay to be on their newsletter, or have a reciprocal arrangement with them. You can also, of course, start building a mailing list of your own by encouraging people to sign up with offers, etc

My company deals in wholesale B2B and the list is for news letters.

Thanks for your contribution.

There are lots of 'lists' out there, but the people on those lists either signed up with other companies or have been extracted or sold on... However, it's not illegal to send unrequested mails to business email addresses, since businesses need sales to make profit.

Just don't send out mail to personal emails eg: johnbloggs@harrassmetilIdie.net - that is illegal!

Also any data held must comply with Data Protection Act and cannot be extracted, held, modified without permission, sold, passed on without written permission from the data holder, which is an individual person or company. Eg: the selling of data without permission is very serious, as is holding it for telesales activity..

It's best to be fully opt-in on your website and supply an unsubscribe link on the website and newsletter (if you offer one).

If you think that you may have a following from a particular ethnic group; why not start a forum for that group?

Hello,

Please let me introduce Databroker -I have worked in buying and selling data for 8 years.

I have read this thread with interest - its very confusing and typifies the whole issue of sifting through people/companies who claim to have x million records and from the actual reputable dataowners who invest circa 1 million pounds a year into maintaining quality data.

Databroker has robust relationships with all the major suppliers listed above and we offer impartial advice on the pro's and con's of each. Depending on what your product and marketing strategy is should dictate who to purchase from. We know this already and can offer advice accordingly.

Importantly, Databroker can use these relationships to leverage fantastic rates on these datasets and can supply data at superb prices but only from DMA compliant and approved companies. Purchasing data from the the best suppliers through databroker would see savings of approx 30%-45%

Feel free to contact us and chat through your requirements - we would be delighted to help.
