Would anyone have a minute to explain viral marketing to me? I would really appreciated an uncomplicated explanation!

When I looked this up I found the easiest explanation at the following url

I promise everyone that I did not pay Kate to ask that question :D

Kate,

I have written an article on it as one of the 10Yeti's newsletters:

http://www.10yetis.co.uk/may_newsletter.html

Hopefully, it should be explained on there, but I know I waffle on so feel free to ask any specific questions.

For me as a person who has always classed themselves as an "amatuer film buff" I love viral/WoM stuff as it has given me the opportunity to get into a new marketing area straight away. I think in today's overly-corporate world it is the way forward. There is a really good VW one doing the rounds at the minute about a certain type of VW Polo driver.

It was made as a result of the recent terrorist attacks in London (by the same agency who are supporting the campaign to get businesses back into london after the attacks) and even though it is light hearted it can cause offence to some, so I am not going to post the link on this site. If anyone is interested, give me a shout/email/carrier pigeon and I will send it over.

You didn't pay me, Andy, but you did raise the question, as you answered one of my other posts with a mention of viral marketing! LOL

Thank you very much for your answers.
