Hello, today I got home to find a letter from Google, I was quite surprised. I breifly scrolled through the letter and it said I had a £50 voucher to spend on their advertising campaign 'adwords' or is it sense? anyway, I was quite shocked at this to be honest.
This is because, I made a blogspot account ages ago, with adwords/sense? (sorry) but basically the one which can earn me money. Anyway, this account was barely used and I posted around 5 posts on this blog and forgot about it.
Well, I must have gave google my adress when I signed up for adsense/word? and it has paid dividends. However I have a few querries;
1. Why would google do this, I haven't blogged on that account for months and barely earned them that much. Whilst I don't think it's a scam, I also don't understand why they'd do this as on that account I've barely contributed to them? Perhaphs it's due to them being such a large/rich organisation or due to realising my IP adress is good for them?
2. This voucher is regarding my old, unused blog - so can I use the code on my new blog to advertise it with £50 worth of adds, I hope so.
P.s. How much is £50 of adverts on Google, I'm guessing it's better than nothing yet not 'amazing'.
Thanks.

Its just to get you to try Adwords, we all get them :P
Gary
I got one too, the day before yesterday.
I have a blog which so far has made me $0.63
I started an adwords campaign, have so far spent just over £6.00 and have made about £70 profit from that.
Giving you an adwords voucher for $50 actually costs google nothing, just if it works for you then you may spend more money with them.

So, sounds positive. After second thoughts, I guess I was wrong - google adsense doesn't cost google anything so perhaphs their gesture wasn't all that amazing, still to an abandoned blog is quite kind.
My second thought still follows though, is there anyway I can use this voucher for my new, more popular blog?
Thanks.

Hi
As others have said they give them out a lot, to encourage people to start using adwords. You will need to spend £10 to activate it though.
Many Thanks

So should I risk £10 to unlock this? Will I be able to make it back through ads on my blog or not?
Sorry, bit of a newb here.

Hi,
I got a £30 voucher about a week ago and thought 'I must see what this is all about' I hadnt sat down and worked through it but then got a £50 voucher yesterday. I set it up last night (paid the tenner minimum charge) and started with £60 credit.
I pretty much went through the screens and set it up, looked at a couple of search terms today and there was my ad on the right on the sponsored links. played a bit with it today again and it certainly works well, although does seem like a huge hole in which to throw money.
My ad had over 1000 impressions and 5 clicks which credit-wise blew the budget for the day.
One certinaly needs to think through and consider their keywords and campaigns but it does work. With regards paid-for SEO its pretty easy and anyone can be an SEO expert with a decent budget.
Its definately worth spending the £10 (school fees) to know the process and get £60 worth of advertising for potential revenue.

So should I invest the tenner? I guess it will make it 'free' in future which could be ok, and it's worth a gamble.
How important is getting the key terms right? I want to make sure it's as good as possible. Thanks.

Good Morning all
I got one a couple of weeks back and set it up however I'm confused in that I was advised on set up that the fee was a fiver not £10! anyone know if I've got a watered down version or something?
Kind Regards

Hey, will someone please answer my question?
I need to know if it's worth setting up (£10) to unlock the £50 voucher, to advertise my blog?
Should it be done, yes or no?
P.s. Why would you bin it?!

Hi
There will be no definitive answer. If you use it effectively you could drive more traffic to you blog.
But it really depends on the site. Spending £10 to drive traffic to a site that doesn't make any money would probably not be effective. But driving traffic to a site that does make you money from visitors.
I hope this helps,
Many Thanks

Hey, sorry to keep posting and stuff, I'm just very eager to learn and am only 16.
I have a slight problem...I've just started an adsense account as that will be the main income for my site, however I've just gone on the adsense account where there's a table saying 'money earned; $0' (obviously), anyway, I just 'submitted' my blog site and it says it's pending. Does this mean that when Google accept my site, then I'll be able to earn from it?
Also, can I use various sites/blogs on the same Adsense account, e.g. various incomes?
Please, please reply. Thanks.
