Having departed today with our so called SEO expert we are in search of some Help urgently in order to increase our rankings and drive traffic towards our 3 websites, gentlemanglobetrotter, ladyglobetrotter & gayglobetrotter

Now before every SEO expert, company, consultant etc offer their services i'd like to point out a few things

I will be dealing with this side of the business, so as i'm based 20 mins from Glasgow i would prefer someone or a recommendation for someone who is reasonably local as i would be looking for weekly meetings for updating progress etc If your happy to travel then not a problem

If that said person happens to have experiance of working with travel guide websites that would be good also

We appreciate we are going to more or less start from scratch, having wasted 4 months now

While budgets will be tight to start with thse will increase quartely as revenue contiues to increase

All 3 sites require global optimisation not just the UK, we have members from the USA, Europe, Middle East and Australasia

If you think you can help recommend or are interested in offering your services then i look forward to hearing from you

SEO is very hard to speed up it more of a marathon than and sprint.

How does your site make money?

Campbell,

I don't normally put myself forward for work but it looks like you need my company's services.
We're a holiday & travel SEO specialists and business mentors for the holiday industry. We also run a successful European self catering holiday business so I think we should talk, however we're not in Scotland, I don't see any point in having to be close to clients as phone and Skype suffice with my other clients.

If you're interested members on here can vouch for me then drop me a line.

Regards
Iain

I don't think you specifically need an SEO - unless you have other plans for promotion. I would be looking for a web strategist, which will be expensive. If you can't afford that, I'd get someone in to teach you SEO and get a strategy together. SEO is only going to be a small part of of getting your site to work. I would focus on building the site with worthwhile content. If a site like yours can't stand on its own two feet, all the SEO in the world is not going to help.

Who was your previous company? I only ask because you mentioned that you wasted 4 months
You want a local company or a good company? I'm not saying that people in Scotland cant optimise, I feel that you are limiting your options.

Yes i would like to discuss your SEO with you, if you want to save money and get good performance

I hope you find someone but I think your initial demands will limit you, e.g. you say you are on a tight budget, yet you want weekly meetings? If you have a 1 hour meeting, and they are 20 minutes away from you, then that is 1 hour and 40 minutes per week purely attending face to face meetings.. 1.6 @ £50 (absolute minumum rate for SEO) means you are going to be paying £320 JUST for meetings, and not a single solitary thing else. :(

Why the need for weekly meets? monthly should be ample, or weekly email/phone replorting yes, this can be cut down to a 20 minute call. Putting over reporting onto an SEO could end up in the BULK of your spend going on the over reporting, which ends up with disatisfaction in the volume of work and progress made, and an eventual change of SEO provider.

Just my 2p :)

OldWelshGuy is right, the c£320 spent could be put to much better use!

I understand that your budget is tight ... but hiring a cheap SEO company ... without a proven track record may well be like throwing your cash down the drain.

Be very careful of who you take on as there are a lot of cowboys out there!

Whilst your budget is small, is there noway you could do the SEO inhouse? Either yourself or someone technically minded who could learn quickly?

You could always improve your SEO by hiring someone with a proven track record at a later date, once you are earning, and you have the basic fundementals of seo in place.

It might be the case you need some decent SEO content

or how about articles/blogs on the 'scene' you promote?

Your site isn't instantly clear about what it is promoting exactly and why it's different to other guides and I think that needs to be clearer.

Your reader has 2 seconds to decide whether they have found the right site or not and I had to read your entire page of content to figure out what the heck the site is catering for.

If you are mainly telling your clients how and where to find local sex related attractions make that more explicit with a headline.

ie

Are You looking For 'Sex In The City' ?

Check Out Our Adult Entertainment Resource Guide For Men
Covering Cities Worldwide

I know when I see this headline, I'm on the right page.

Check out my page re content services and see if I can be of service to you. See my page on 'writing services'

And your point being?

You do get fake post.
People try and bump up traffic stats.
It seemed like you just posted and vanished.
I spoke to Andy yesterday and discussed some details.

As I am sure it has been pointed out to you, most of your content is behind a login so Search Engines are always going to find you difficult to place.

They will see the login and walk away, so you will have to rely on your open to all visitors content.

You could start by opening up your content, remove the need to register for free users and just have premium content behind the closed doors are a login.

That also means possibly sorting out your titles, other META tags, although possibly only the description.

You should look at cleaning up your coding a little bit as well...have look at this (http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gentlemanglobetrotter.c om%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0) and this (http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gentlemanglobetrott er.com%2F&profile=css21&usermedium=all&warning=1&lang=en) and possibly this (http://validator.w3.org/checklink?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gentlemanglobetrott er.com%2F&hide_type=all&depth=&check=Check)

I know your question was to find a SEO person/company, but if the budget is tight, you may find yourself sacking the latest person selected.

So look at doing some elements yourself. And remember nothing can be guranteed and what ever ranking improvements happen, it won't happen over night or necessarily improved your ranking.

Best of luck :)

I vanished as i have 3 businesses to run which usually takes 70-90 hours a week of my life

Andy mentioned someone phoned and i believe you were going to send an email to both him and myself, it would have been good to have received this before midday as i am going to Aberdeen for a meeting with him and the team, SEO being one of the main subjects for discussion i am interested though where you got his mobile number from

I met with a company in Greenock yesterday Hobo-web dot co dot uk, he came recommended and i was happy with the outcome, they claim to have 50,000 hits to their site per month and all white-hat stuff i believe

i look forward to your email

Hobo do have very good traffic to their site and some good content particularly for beginers. They are probably the best company to go with in Scotland based on reputation.
